Still nothing going on with my cervix...I almost wish they wouldn't check it!! LOL! Or maybe just not tell me!!! I'm still measuring 33cm. I was measuring 33cm back at 36 weeks. I did have my u/s last week that showed her to be around 6lbs....and I know they say your belly usually stops get larger around 38 weeks...but to be five weeks behind???.... The only thing keeping me from worrying about is, is just the thought that maybe my uterus is stretched out from the twins and she's able to kind of flop to the side (her back has been along my right side...) so maybe I'm just growing wide instead of long for these fundal height measurements.... ??? So anyone on here go on time for their first and then go late for a subsequent pg?? Just curious. I had my first dd at 40wks 3 days...I don't think I'll go too early for this one, but I'm trying to brace myself for the possibility that I might actually go later than that. Is that likely??

I tend to think that I'd go more with your u/s measurements more than the fundal height. Yes, the u/s weights are typically off by a bit, but if she's growing on target that's the most important thing. And you could definitely be right about the shape and size of your uterus. I know my shape when I was pregnant with the girls was totally different than with Jax. With the girls, I was very pointy and with Jax I was more wide.

I know it's hard not to worry...but you are sooo close and whether it's sooner or later your little bundle will be here in the next few weeks! Hang in there!

    With my singletons
    I was 41 weeks 3 days with ds#1
    40 weeks 5 days with ds # 2
40 weeks exactly with ds #3 - and I measured small w/ him - but he was 7 pounds 3 oz - my dh did not want to know the sex so I had to keep quiet about it but everyone kept saying I was having a girl because I carried him so different! -
so I'm thinkin that as others have said, it matters more how she is growing than what you measure. and I never dialated much before any of my deliveries - you are so close (I know it doesn't feel that way to you!) !!

so with mine, I got closer and closer to my due date until with ds#3 I delivered him exactly on his! with the twins - they took them 2 weeks early so I don't know how far we would have gone!!

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

My OB just had me in a panic over this on Monday because my measurements had stopped and actually gone backwards. I went for a second opinion and they said not to pay attention to measurements after 35 weeks because the baby drops more into the pelvis and the number is subjective +/- 3cm just depending on where on your bone they measure from! They insisted on an u/s and the baby was 7lb 13oz and 38w2d to 39w1d. My measurement was 37 weeks in the first OB's office. The second opinion said most protocol is not to even measure you from 35 weeks on because of all mentioned as well as the amniotic fluid level normal drops as you approach delivery. All the info really helped ease me mind, hope it helps you as well.

Thanks Mel- it does make me feel better to hear this.
And thanks to Heather- I love being reassurred with women who go a bit earlier for each of their kiddies...and also with stories of closed cervix up until the time of labor!! :D Makes me feel so much better.

Ok, I won't be reassuring unfortunately.
I was big, but not enormous with Ella, but after having my boys early (31 weeks) and then miscarrying late my second pregnancy I was so scared Ella would pop out early.
Well not only did she not pop out early, she refused to pop out for AGES!! I went to almost 42 weeks with her and then the day they told us they would induce tomorrow I started having contractions in the afternoon (maybe 5 or 6ish), went for a shower and then to hospital at around 8 because I was in pain. Well, before 9 Ella had made her debut!
so she hang around inside forever, but once she was decided to come, she just shot right out! She wasn't huge either at 6 pounds 11.
Good luck and enjoy the time pre-baby. I know hard to do when you feel like you have an elephant inside of you, but still...
