    Should I be worried?
Sofie gets up on all 4s and rocks has been for probably almost 2mo but she still rolls to get everywhere.
Maia rolls everywhere and shows no interest in crawling.

They have nailed all their other milestones like babbling, self feeding, sitting, clapping, waving bye, etc. but no crawling! I am quite content without crawlers (less work for me) but didnt know if anyone else's 9-10mo olds were not crawling yet??

Are they scooting or rolling or doing anything so that they are getting around? I read that what's important is that they are somehow getting things - like a toy just out of reach or whatever. Not the method in which they are doing it, if that makes sense.

Did you bring them to the pedi for a 9 month appointment? At your pedi do they read you a list of milestones and you say "yes" or "no" for if they are doing it or not?

I read your post again and I don't think I'd be worried if I were you. Have you asked your mom how old you were when you crawled? Maybe you were a late crawler or maybe their father was? Whenever I worry about something like about my girls I'll ask my mom and my MIL about DH and I. Like teeth for example, we still don't really have any! But I asked my mom and she said that I was toothless for the first year of my life and she was worried I'd never have teeth, so I figure my girls just get that from me.

Your girls are doing some things my girls don't do yet even though mine are crawling. Mine don't clap or say yay or self feed very well at all! Mine also do not wave bye. Babies just do things in their own time.

Yes we had the 9mo appt at the end of July and I told her they werent crawling and she agreed less work for me. ;) They roll everywhere, Sofie actually prefers rolling to anything and Maia will whine if something is out of reach, hoping I'll get it for her, and when I dont then she will roll to get it.

And here's a dumb question: Whats scooting?

I wouldn't worry about this at all. I stressed about it big time with my first son, who didn't start crawling until 10-1/2 months. He didn't even roll until almost 8 months. Even with being on the late side for these events, he still walked shortly after he turned one. I know it's worrisome waiting for it to happen, but they will do it in their own time.

Okay this isn't a dictionary definition, lol, but my definition of scooting is moving but not crawling. Mine scooted before they crawled - like just scooting a little bit to get something that's out of reach. LOL

If you want them to crawl you can try showing them how to do it. When they are up on all 4s hold their feet in position and move their legs, show them how to do it. Put a toy in front of them, put them in position, and show them how to move forward to get it. Something like that. I don't know if it really works but you could try. I did that with Amelia and she was my first crawler, and then I think Lily started so she could keep up with sister.

Mine really don't crawl, they army crawl everywhere. They get up on all 4's but then when they move they drag their bellies on the floor, I don't know why.

The benchmark is at 12 months baby needs to be able to get around a room. This can be by rolling, crawling, scooting, walking, creeping-- whatever. But baby needs to be able to get where he wants to go in some fashion.

I think you're fine. It took mine a long time to crawl also.

Only my DS is crawling, he just started a week ago. They're FINE! Like the others said, as long as their is not an obvious problem, don't worry. It will just happen overnight and then you won't even remember when they couldn't crawl. Someone on here once said, (barring other problems), "no baby has ever NOT learned how to crawl, pull up or walk." Some just take longer. I was worried for a while because some TS'ers 7-8 month olds were crawling (up stairs no less), pulling up and walking around furniture. But they'll get there...if mine are late bloomers, that's fine with me! I'm already exhausted chasing one around.

I don't think it is a problem because my boys just turned 10 months and they just started crawling about 2 weeks ago. One of my boys was doing the army crawl and the other wanted nothing to do with crawling. Then one day 2 weeks ago they both just started crawling. I was worried to that they were doing nothing but they will start soon. When they start they are going to be everywhere.

I personally wouldn't be worried. Every baby is different. My niece NEVER crawled-and went straight to walking. Granted-she was quite young-but she still didn't crawl. And neither of my boys wave or clap(we are practicing though!).

Just be careful what you wish for though! Once Nicholas started crawling-he also started STANDING. On EVERYTHING.

Nathan just started really crawling a couple of weeks ago( 10 1/2 mo. old) . Natalie has been crawling since 6 mo. old. Huge difference.

At 10 months DS was not mobile at all. I had talked with the pedi at their 9 month appt and she said not to be worried unless he wasn't crawling by a year. Now in the last week (they are 10.5 months) DS has learned to pull up, cruise, rock on all fours, and is doing a half booty scoot/half crawl. He gets from point A to point B. I think he's had the strength all along and is just now mastering the coordination.

I think keep encouraging them but don't be concerned just yet.

Mine learned to sit at 8 months, army crawl/drag at 9 months, pull up at 10.5 months, traditional crawl (on all fours) at 11 months, cruising at 12.5 months, and walking at 14.5 months.

I think your kiddos are fine. They are "mobile" because they roll and as long as they are mobile I think they're right on track!

Don't worry! My girls aren't even attempting to crawl. They don't get on all 4s at all. They do push themselves up with their arms, but they've been doing that for a while now. My DS didn't crawl until he was about 10.5 months old. My pedi told me that crawling is not a good developmental indicator because some babies never crawl. Some babies scoot or roll everywhere until they can walk. Definitely talk to your pedi if you're concerned, but they sound like they're doing great!

From what I've heard crawling isn't a milestone. Some babies NEVER crawl! My creeped and rolled everywhere and didn't start actually crawling (like belly off the floor crawling) until they were pulling up and cruising. Then they learned to walk within weeks and were walking before their 1st birthday. Baby proof soon!!!
