My mom loves this website. She gets a lot of good information for it.

Syd still has reflux issues. She's being tested for food sensitivies. We've put her on probiotics, enzymes and other holistic type stuff to wean her from reflux meds. We now go to both a traditional Western Ped and now a new holistic pediatrician. Best of both worlds!

I've always wondered if perhaps the proliferation of food allergies is due more to modern medicine and genetics.

If you think about it 100 yrs ago there were no doubt still people with food allergies, but I doubt there were Epi-Pens. Those people, if they ate the wrong thing, would pass away. Many of them probably passed away before they reached adulthood and were able to reproduce. Modern medicine has all kinds of tests and meds to help prevent anaphalactic shock, etc, which in turn would lead to more people with food allergies surviving into adulthood and having children. If allergies are genetic, than those kids would be more prone to said allergies. Right?

Not saying anything bad about anyone with a food allergy or denying that messing with food could be harmful...just putting another possibility out there.
