My b/g twins are 14 months and both were big spitters as infants, but mostly happy spitters. Thankfully, it has slowed down a lot since the past couple months where Im not spot cleaning my carpet every day. But...i have noticed that they both do this weird spit up thing. And sorry for TMI, but sometimes they catch it and sometimes it comes out & it's chunky and can have a sick smell, you know what I mean? We have had lots of stomach bugs this year so I have feared that it was coming back, but nothing else happens. It's just the spit up. It's usually in the high chair or right after they get down & it's not a lot but it stinks a lot. I'm starting to wonder about a milk allergy since theyve only been on milk for a couple months, though they were on regular formula. Or a gluten allergy? Or is this just normal for them? Any thoughts?

The chunky, stinky spit up was a clue for me about a milk intolerance. I thought we were done with the milk intolerance when we introduced dairy and all went well (after being unable to digest it as small babies in my milk). But as we moved to the 16-24 ounces of whole milk a day, I noticed the spit up and other signs. Other clues were/are: mucousy poop, screaming before pooping (occasionally). Mine can handle everything but milk straight up and ice cream. We switched to Lactaid and they are fine.

It could be an allergy, the only way to find out for sure is to eliminate dairy from their diet for a bit. I know with all 3 of my boys, and the twins still do it, they spit up a lot before they cut teeth, so it could be teething related too.

My DD had that same nasty cottage cheese smelly puke when we switched to whole milk, I then switched her to 2% and she was fine.
