well, it's that time - we're all done nursing. :yahoo: i'm not sure how i feel yet. :pardon:

we had run into an issue where Riley didn't want to nurse on her side anymore (the right), but when i tried to switch Danika to the right, she would have none of it - so we ended up starting off most of our days in melt down mode because neither girl wanted to nurse on the right, or wait their turn for the left. it was getting a bit ridiculous so i decided to start DODR. Holly - i borrowed a page from your book & when i realized it had been a couple of days & neither one had asked for num-nums, we did one more nursing session & i had DH take some pics. unfortunately, Riley was really upset & refused to pose - i have one pic of her cuddling against my shoulder, bawling her eyes out while Danika's nursing. :pardon: oh well, what do you do? it's been a pretty incredible journey & i'm so proud of myself for sticking with it through those hard first weeks & months. i have so many sweet memories of nursing my girls and that will always be our special time.

i don't know if i ever posted this before, but it was finding this forum that kept me going in the early days. when the girls were 6 weeks old, after another horrible, awful, painful nursing session i was ready to throw in the towel but i figured one more internet search couldn't hurt - maybe, just maybe, i'd find a magic solution. after googling twins + breastfeeding i found this site. i read through the success story sticky & realized that every single thing i was going through had been experienced before by another mother of twins & that many of those women who had faced the same challenges as me had gone on to successfully nurse their twins for a year or more. i recommitted to breastfeeding until the girls were at least 3 months old - and by then, things were most definitely on the upswing and so i stuck with it. it's been gravy ever since.

thank you thank you thank you ladies!!! for your wisdom & support through all the ups & downs of nursing twins, thank you from the bottom of my heart. :grouphug:

It is so emotional when it's over! But it sounds like everyone was ready. WTG on nursing your girls for so long! :bow2: (Now, if only they'd cooperated for the photo shoot... <_< But at least they'll probably have a good laugh when they're older over how they were fighting over the same side.)

And thank YOU for all the incredible knowledge and support you provide here! I'm always learning something new from the links you dig up!

I felt that way so many times in the beginning and right now I am so tired of pumping for daycare bottles but I just keep going. Congratulations on making it so far! I honestly hope I can stick with it that long.

Anyway, congrats and my condolences at the same time. :yahoo:

    thanks ladies!

funny thing - after almost 10 days of not nursing, Danika asked to nurse today. :pardon: i expect it was a one off, just to see if she still could. then of course Riley wanted in on the action just because Danika was getting some. she only popped on for about a half a second though & then went back to playing. Danika nursed for about 5 minutes and i was kind of surprised at how much she seemed to be getting - i was hearing audible swallows the whole time.

Well done! You and your girls will reap the benefits of bf'ing for so long and along the way you've learned so much that you can pass on to others. I admire what an advocate you are of bf'ing. :clapping:
