We may be switching tomorrow. We have a doctors appointment to discuss. I was just wondering a few things compared to the Neosure they have been getting.

Is it as thick as the Neosure?
Will it help make the babies less gassy than the Neosure?
Do babies like the way it tastes?
Does it help at all with constipation issues?
How does it work if your insurance will cover it?

I think that is it for now. Thanks in advance.

we tried the allimentum. from what our doctors said, it is just really broken down - like nutramigen only the similac version. our boys loved it - and then threw it up. i think with the reflux they had mixed with them actually drinking a whole bottle (we had formula problems) it just got to their stomach. Possibly it was too broken down for them. we were on neosuer as well and our boys loved it but the doctor took them off when they were 10 lbs. as for the gassiness, i'm not sure what to tell you... we eventually ended up on Good Start b/c i believe we had problem wiht the DHA and ARA that's in every formula known to man but Good Start (purple can) for what it's worth. Good Luck on the switch and just FYI, Allimentum smells aweful. :bad:

Ok, definitely not as thick. Kinda thin actually. Should help to make things less gassy if they are allergic to milk based. I don't think it tastes as good so that could be a problem (remember, its stripped down, very elemental). Should keep them from getting constipated. If the insurance covers it, they usually will order it for you through a pharmacy (pick up) or it will be delivered to your home.

Why are you switching to Alimentum anyway? Are they allergic to milk based?

I found my guys to be MORE gassy with the neosure. As well as have more spit up. If anything I reccomend the Isomil formula, (put out by Similac) for fussy gassy babies. It did help my Jack. At 6 months, he wasn't as fussy/gassy, so we switched to Good Start and it was really great... the boys didn't have problems with it.

My DD was put on it for milk protein allergy. She was put on it really early, so the taste does not bother her. I don't really think it helped her with her gassiness, because her guts were so raw from the allergy. She was actually passing blood in her stool. So for the first 3 months, she was one very cranky baby. I know she was in a lot of pain!

Anyway, my insurance covers 80% after I meet a $350 deductible, or so they say. We are still waiting on our money, and this has been going on for almost 6 months. They say they have to get the right code. Whatever! We have to go buy it ourselves too. The cheapest that I can find it is at Babies R Us. I think it is $50.94 a case here. Good Luck!

My girls were on Nutrimigen due to a soy and a milk allgery. Alimentum has soy in it and Nutrimigen is made of corn with no soy or milk. We tried almost every other formula except neosure. We were going to try that after Nutrimigen but the Nutrimigen worked. They were still a little gassy but nothing like they they were on the alimentum.
