Aiden survived surgery!

Today was Aiden's circ revision surgery. We got to the hospital at 6:30am & were home by 11am! The surgeon found some extra 'issues' in the OR that took a little longer, but Aiden did GREAT! He got an oral sedative pre op & was just getting loopy when I was allowed to carry him back to the OR. He didn't cry at all when the used the mask to put him to sleep, but Mama did . He was fussy afterwards, but nothing his sippy cup couldn't fix (however, when that ran dry, he'd FLIP)! I couldn't believe he barely fussed when they took his IV out either! We gave him some pain meds when he came home, he ate a light lunch, & then snuggled into bed with me for an afternoon nap. Daddy WOKE us up after about 3 1/2 hrs & he's been GREAT ever since! He's crawling around, cruising, riding his push toys, climbing, etc etc. You'd NEVER know he had surgery today! We gave him pain meds at bedtime just 'because', but I don't even think he needed them!

He's got 18 or so stitches around the head of his penis that we have to put antibiotic ointment on with diaper changes & he can't take a bath til Thursday, but otherwise...all is normal! He didn't even CRY with diaper changes, just a little fussing when putting the ointment on.

I can't believe my super dramatic Drama Baby has done so excellently today. He's been SUCH a good boy.

I'm SOOOOOOO glad it's all over. I've been dreading today for months! Now hopefully the next few days will go just as well....

Oh andrea- you dont know how happy I am to hear this. You have just lifted a 200 lb weight off of my chest. My boys BOTH have to have it on Oct 30th. I'm soooo thrilled to hear this and I hope my boys do just as well. Way to go!

 

Glad it went well. They always do better than us mommies. I love the surgical hat. He looked adorable.

 

Andrea thank you so very much for posting this. My boys go in for their evaluation on the 4th. I was trying to remember if it was you or ivfbound that was having their babies' operation done before ours but I couldn't remember. I was just hoping and praying that one of you would post your experiences and you did! I'm so glad it went well for everyone. Just out of curiosity, will your other son have it done as well?
