OK. Silly question! But how do you go about "aging" your child? For instance-my boys were 16 weeks yesterday. So do I say 4 months? Or 16 weeks? Do I calculate it as months when it's the 18th of every month? So they would really only be 3.5 months right now, vs 4 months(eventhough they are 16 weeks). Does that make any sense?!?! LOL! I hope someone follows me on this one!
Mine will be 16 weeks on Tuesday, but they were born on the 23rd so I won't say they're 4 months until the 23rd. It makes more since to me to go by the date, rather than weeks. If you do every four weeks as a month, that's only 48 weeks in a year, but a real year has 52, so it doesn't add up, KWIM? ETA: FWIW, the Lilypie tickers also use the date, not the weeks.
I went by weeks for the first couple months, then started going by month. Starting Wednesday I will be saying they are ONE! (then probably go back to months when they hit 13 months!) Helen
I counted by weeks until they hit 4 months, and now I just count by months. They were born on the 22nd of Sept, so when asked, I say, "they are almost 4.5 months old".
I have a hard time remembering which number week we're in (which I never did with my dd- must be the sleep deprivation), so what I've been going by is the 22nd (their day of birth)... so now, they're 3.5 months old... but I only started doing that a few weeks ago...
I used weeks until they were 12 weeks old, and actually going by the day they were born {like Monday} I started using months based on the date after that.

I think I counted weeks until about 16 weeks -- then I started losing track, so I switched to months. I figured if I couldn't remember how many weeks they were, then it didn't really matter! And when I count months, I do it by the actual date -- so they'll be 27 months on the 17th of this month.

I stopped doing weeks when it started to sound kind of ridiculous. I thought it was silly to be saying "they're 20 weeks" - 5 months is more than fine at that point. I think we just into the habit of talking in "weeks" when we're pregnant, and then with newborns every week seems to count...but as they get older I think months is just fine. Your doctor isn't going to book your "52-week" well-baby appointment. He's going to book you in for the 1-year shots/check up.
I stopped using weeks when they were 3 months old. Now I go by months -- today (the 8th), we are 4 months old
After 12 weeks, I started estimating my month and still do that now. When they are 2 I will just estimate by year.
I went by weeks for about 12 weeks, then switched to months until they were about 24 months, and then went by 1/4 years until age 3, then by 1/2 years. Seems complicated but that's just the way it worked out.
