I was in Target looking for a couple more small gifts and stocking stuffers for the girls and I found cute little kid sunglasses in the dollar bins. They say for ages 3+ on them. I also got a couple Fisher Price Kid-Tough Mini Doodlers which also say for ages 3+. My girls will be two on Wednesday. I really think they'll love these toys. Would you give them to your kids even though they don't meet the age recommendations?

I do and just make sure there are no small parts for them to choke on. When they were 18 months I bought them Mr. Potato Head and it's for ages 2+.

I have found there are not a many options for toys for 2 year old; most are 3+.

I look at the toys and if I see that there are not parts that they can harm themselves on, I'll buy it. There are some toys I have bought for them this year that are 3 and over.

I'll buy most things. They are getting a laptop computer from my mom that says 3+. They turned two in October. And like Judy said, there are very few toys for two year olds. I think it just depends on your child and what you think they would like. Sunglasses-I would totally get, and my boys are getting the doodlers as well.

as others have mentioned, i'll buy it if it seems safe for the girls.

Those age recommendations are basically guidelines to me. In some cases, they are only stated because there's a small part that might be a choking hazard. Just remove the offending part. If it's not removable and it's a concern then I'd look at another toy. Also, you know your own child best. Some children are more likely to stick things in their mouths while others are more fidgety and play more with their fingers. Some kids liek to press buttons while others drag and throw things. I love this age! They really start showing their interests. It makes buying presents easier.

My mother is buying my boys a tunnel system that includes some pit balls. It's stated to be for age 3+. I cannot for the life of me figure that out. I asked the staff at their gym about it. They have those tunnels for the toddler classes and a huge ball pit. None of the teachers there know why the manufacturers feel it's for 3+ either. I know they are going to just love that system!!!

I usually get one yr ahead for the boys. I think 3 is perfect!

I guess it depends on the age, mine are not ready for most 3 yo toys, but they might be in 6 months. I admit though that it's always seemed weird to me to see people buy 3 yo toys for 22 months old.

I also check to make sure there aren't any parts on the toy that can harm them. But other than that I don't really check what the age recommondation is [IMG] but rather I go by what will developmentally stimulate my children. If they're two, then I'm not going to get something that's recommended for 0-2 yrs. I'd get something they could grow into and that I think they'll enjoy playing with for a good amount of time. [get your monies worth ;) ]
