Ok, so I really am not interested in having anymore babies after these babies come... they will make us a 3 kid family, and we really only planned on two... The thing is, I really don't want to get my tubes tied. Not sure why, but I just don't want to do it. Any thoughts on other options? What are other people planning or thinking in this department?

i dont know... i want a lot of babies!!! i want your babies if you have more! no seriously you have a lot of options. they got that thing that they can implant in your cervix thats supposed to work for ten years, you can tube tie, ummm take all ur stuff out with a hiserummmmamy...im not sure what else but i see all kind of commercials. you have options, basically now what you are looking at is how much you wanna spend, what you want done to your body, whats most effective, and whats safe. and also find other moms who have had these things done. more power to ya!! i want all the babies!!!! :p no birth control here!

    Mirena IUD

Good for 5 years. Small amount of hormone that stays localized in your uterus. Either very little or no period at all.
    I highly recommend it.

We did the good ol fashioned BCP until we were 100% sure we were done. Then DH had a vasectomy.

i'm in the same position that you are...not quite sure why but i'm not wanthing to get the tubes tied. Anyways, i think we're leaning for the IUD - i'm not quite the best on taking the birth control pill and while the ring was great, i had to pay for it monthly. The IUD as far as i know is a one time thing for 5 years or so.

Your hubby can also get a vasectomy. Remember, there are things the *men* can do too. I just get annoyed when it is always up to the women :)

I think I am going to talk to my DR about the Mirena IUD, although I may want another one after the twins but we will see. I also have a history of ovarian cysts so I have to see if the IUD is even an option for me. There is also a mini pill (I think) that is ok to use when breast feeding, if you are planning on doing that.

We are facing this issue as well, I want more kids, but not anytime soon. I keep thinking that we don't have to worry about it as it took 3 years and ivf to get pg, but from others stories on here, anything is possible. I don't want to go on bcp's as they make me really sick so I don't know what we will do. We may just resort to the pray and pull method but I don't think that's so reliable.

I would say you should listen to your intuition. I learned from my father, who is a doctor, that some women experience hormonal complications after having their tubes tied. There are things happening naturally in a woman's body that are important for her health, and having your tube tied interrupts some of this.

I also learned that synthetic hormones can have toxic effects. It is now possible to natural, bioidentical hormones to be created that do not have the same toxic effects that synthetic ones do. I would highly recommend checking out the book "From Hormone **** to Hormone Well" or hormonewellness.com.

Thanks! I will check that out. I am not sure what it is that bothers me about having my tubes tied, but it's something. I just don't see that happening! I did use Mirena after having my daughter, and it worked... for a while. After a year it became dislodged and my husband was always complaining he could feel the plastic strings. Fortunately and unfortunately we had no trouble getting pregnant as we have each time we even though about having a baby so I know we will need to do something! He has mentioned getting a vastectomy, but who knows how he will feel (maybe like I do about the tube thing). I will definately look for the book you mentioned since the synthetic hormone thing has been a point of contention with my husband from the start... he is definately an all natural whole food whole body kind of guy. Although at this point we are in no position to consider a 4th or 5th child ;)
