How long after having a c-section did it take for you to have bowel movement?? I had a c-section monday and still no bowel movement.

Mine took 10 days, and that was with being on a laxative once a day from days 5-10. I've been pretty regular since then. However, the first one was extremely uncomfortable. GOOD LUCK, and congrats on your boys!

They wouldn't let me leave the hospital until I had one. They did give a stool softener. You can buy one at a drugstore or grocery store. If you're not passing gas either you should probably call your OB. Make sure you're drinking lots and lots of water, and you can always add some Benefiber to it to help out a little bit. GL and congrats on your little men!

I think it took about four or five days for me. I also took a stool softener to help things along

I had by c-section early Thursday am, and I had my first bm on Sat evening without laxatives. I was scared, but it wasn't too bad... let nature do most of it so I didn't have to push or strain... sorry if tmi!

It was 4 days for me and i think that was only because i was too terrified to go! When i tried i was pleasantly surprised that it didn't hurt or damage my tummy in anyway.

I didn't have a C section, but I was told if you drink something warm it will help - even just warm water!

It took a good week for me. And I only had two in the first two weeks pp! I was on stool softeners as well. I was surprised how the csection/surgery affected my body!

Nine days for me, and the first one was excruciating. The sooner you can wean yourself off the narcotic painkillers the better off you'll be. Even though I was taking stool softeners everyday, I was also taking oxycodone for pain. The oxycodone was the problem. As soon as I stopped taking it, my bm returned to near normal.

They gave me prescription stool softeners along with tylenol w/codeine and motrin 400mg. Slowly weaning myself off...

Stool softener didn't help me so I had suppositories in the hospital and it worked as charmed.
but as soon as I got home and had my cup of coffee :) I had normal BM. but it was only 6 days after c-section. ( i knew that caffeine is working much better then all stool softeners for me)

OMG, I wasn't allowed to leave the hospital until I had one. They fed me so much stuff that would make me go. I had stool softeners and a lot of mint tea. The first night I was there I had a bowel movement. It wasn't painful because I was so dopped up.

They also wouldn't let me leave until having one a couple days later with stool softener. Once I was home though it took another week for another one and the first couple took over 1 hour...TMI I know. Bleh! My least favorite part of the entire thing! I felt like such a man, taking a magazine into the bathroom with me..heh heh. My favorite is when I came out, my husband and mom were like, are you okay? I was like, YESSS...LEAVE ME WITH SOME MODESTY.

It was either the next day or two days after my c-section, I can't remember. However, I was not expecting that at all and was terrified it was going to hurt/rip stitches. Although it wasn't comfortable I was fine and I would say in a week or two I was back to normal. Coffee worked for me, but the stool softeners also helped a ton after the surgery until everything was functioning like it used to.

Like others, Colace was my friend! Took me about 5 days. As long as your passing gas you should be fine until you have a bowel movement. Means nothing is blocked.

I was at 10 days when I finally called my OB in tears. He told me to drink Magnesium Citrate. I had my DH go out and get some and the pharmacist told him it would really tear my stomach up. I was desperate though. I sat it at the table and I was going to drink it after dinner and I think just reading the bottle scared the sh*t out of me!! Literally! LOL I went to the bathroom right after dinner and finally had a BM. Didn't have to drink the stuff thankfully. My friend who had triplets told me she started on Fiber Pills after she had the same problem and that helped. I still continued to have problems and took a Fiber Pill a day and that really truly helped. I finally stopped those at around 3 months and now I'm finally "normal". I know it is horrible. Call your Doc if you don't get one soon.
