Joel took 4 doses of this last week after having some wheezing, and the nurse suggested we keep him out of the church nursery on Sunday while his immune system was down. If any of your DC have been on this, and are familiar w/ the drug and it's effects, can you tell me how long I need to keep him out of a childcare setting? I have MOPS tomorrow, and would like to go, but I don't want him getting sick.

Both of my guys have had the Pred for breathing issues and I have taken them out and about when I knew the felt better. I was never told to quarantine them except in the very early days during RSV season.

My oldest DD has been on it before for her asthma, but we were never told to quarantine her. Are you asking because his immune system may be down still or is he still wheezing?

Ah, see I was told to keep him home for a "few days" but that was because he'd been on it for 10 days and totally had 'roid rage and would have probably smacked any other innocent little kids he was around. (I swear to God he was like a different child! Yikes!) I still dread when we have to do Pred....*shudder*

Like pps...I was never told to keep them away from others because their immune system was down and mine have both been on prednisone (a couple of times) and have asthma issues.

Hm.... well, I'm glad I don't need to worry about it too much then! We were advised to keep him away from nursery type care b/c his immune system may be down, and he'd be more vulnerable to getting sick. I ended up skipping anyways, just because I was so tired this morning I couldn't get everyone up, ready and out of the house on time! But thank you for your replies- it makes me feel a lot more confident taking him out for the rest of the week! :)
