I'm trying to get packed and ready for the hospital. I could go into labor at any time now.

What I need to know is what should wear if it's a c-section? What kind of underwear should I take with? I don't want to wear underwear that will irritate the incision, kwim? Do I need to pack underwear for this situation, or does the hospital provide it? I should've asked my doctor at my last appointment, but totally forgot. I won't see him until next week, and I might have the babies by then. LOL!

    TIA!

The hospital did provide "mesh" (for lack of a better word) underwear. I would recommend wearing those as you can just throw them out after using them (they can get messy). I did bring underwear with me- and opted for a high waisted style so it wouldn't interfere with the incision. I actually didn't end up wearing my own underwear until I got home.

The hospital should give you these mesh underwear, get as many of those as you can. I wore those. Something high waisted that doesn't rub the incision is good. But the mesh are the best because you just dispose them when they get messy.

ditto the mesh panties. Let me tell you, they're HOT! :p Seriously, though...stock up on those. Once I was out of those at home, I wore high-waisted briefs (read: granny panties). I didn't wear anything in the hospital other than the mesh panties. Why possibly mess up your own panties when they give you disposables?!

    HTH!

I used the mesh panties from the hospital while I was there. I had purchased some "granny panties" but didn't like those. I think they were too big and they drooped down so they were sitting on my incision. I ended up just wearing my regular low-rise bikini underwear when I got home from the hospital.

I wore my maternity underwear, I was still really swollen for 3 weeks after so nothing else fit! Whatever you are comfortable in near the end of your pregnancy will work good a few weeks afterwards.

Your incision will be covered with a huge guaze, so at that point it really doesn't matter. I had the mesh panties until I was able to shower. After I got home I wore some that didn't touch because I just couldn't stand the thought of getting material or thread caught in the staples.

I also wore the mesh panties. but going home I wore my maternity panties and I wore them for the first month until all the swelling went down. I also wore my maternity blue jeans that first month!

YAY for the big mesh panties from the hospital!!!
After those I wore the biggest cotton undies I could find at Target & they were AWESOME!
And I had to giggle a little every time I put them on :)

Thanks, I'll take everyon's advice and just do the mesh. I guess I didn't realise I'd have gauge on the staples, so I was thinking the mesh would tug on the staples, lol! Thanks again. :)

Ditto on the mesh panties from the hospital. After the gauze was done with, the nurses suggested those old fashioned pads without the sticky strips to use over the incision. Those worked well and I also wore my maternity belt per my OB and that really helped too. It was especially useful for getting in and out of bed since it helped alleviate some of the pain.

I oddly LOVED those weird mesh panties. My discharge nurse even gave me a bunch to take home & I think I wore them for about 3 weeks! (They were easy to wear with a pad.) They were way more comfortable than anything I had. And I certainly wasn't going back to a G-String then! Good luck with everything!
