    I'm officially off from work, and on bedrest

    Tues night, I had loads of contractions, as well as back pain, that kept me up most of the night. Last night, had lower abd cramping, as well as low back pain. Brett wanted to take me to the hospital, but I said NO!!

    This morning, had my OB appt and BPP. Babies are fine and dandy; A is till vertex, B is still transverse. I told my OB I felt like **** ... and when she checked me, I'm 80% effaced, and 1 cm dilated. 2 weeks ago, nothing was going on ... I was closed tight as a drum.

    She said ...."well, you've worked your last day this PG, and I want you off your feet ... on bed rest." I discussed meds with her (procardia, for PTL); she discussed it with some of the other OBs in her group, and decided it was not needed, since I'll be 36 weeks on Sunday.

    So ...I need some prayers/positive thoughts. I need the babies to stay in as long as possible .....so that they will be healthy. I hate that I have to be off from work ... since that means I have less time off after the babies actually arrive.

    Any advice, thoughts???

    GRRRR!! I am so type A!!

    Listen to your doctor and what your body is trying to tell you, you need to be off your feet to keep these little ones cooking some more. :hug99: It's hard when things come that are unexpected, especially when you're a planner, but it's for the good of your babies and you. I'm sending many positive thoughts your way that you keep them in a few more weeks. :hug99: Now while you are on bedrest you can make lists to make sure you are as ready as possible for when they come. ;)

    [SIZE=10pt]You've done such a great job! :a_smil09:

    It's ironic that I read your post tonight. Last year today I was officially taken out of work at just about 30 weeks, although I wasn't put on bedrest I was given strict orders to take it very easy. I remember being so frustrated that I didn't make it to the end. Let me tell ya though ~ I was glad that I had that time to rest and relax. I made lists of things that I wanted done...things to bring to the hospital...pictures I wanted taken during the C/S, afterwards, etc

    Sending positive thought and vibes your way!! They'll be here before you know it!

    Congrats

    April :)

    Bedrest is hard, I know. I was put on modified bedrest at 25wks, had to quit my job, just up and leave. It is definately an adjustment, but it can be done and it is so worth it for those sweet little babies. I always tried to remind myself that although I wasn't "working" at my usual job, that I still had work to do and it was to keep those babies in for as long as possible. It's so important and I counted every day as a blessing. Try to take it easy, catch up on your rest, read books, watch movies, paint your toe nails if you can reach them. That's what I did. And darn it I had the cutest toe nails while I was in the hospital, I looked like crap, but atleast my toes were cute:) It's great that you are almost to 36 wks. you have done a great job already! Best of luck to you!

    aww.. I know how hard bedrest is.. I had 10 weeks of it with my last. Its just a short time though so try to enjoy getting those feet up and being pampered a bit before those babies come. You deserve it after all. Rent some movies, read some books and sleep sleep sleep.. those days will pass so quickly.

    I remember thinking the same thing- I didn't want to lose any time from my maternity leave, but Finn spent a week in the NICU because of premature lungs- so I still felt like I lost time with them. I worked right up until the day I delivered and if I had to do over, I would have stopped much sooner...You've done great working for as long as you have. Listen to your body and your ob- they're both telling you it's time to slow down.
