afraid of getting another epidural

I am 16w3d and i am scared to get another epidural. I have a 6 year old son my back in the spot that i had the epidural i can not even get touched in that spot. I am very afraid of getting it again. Is there any other pain relief when you get a c section? i just want to know all my options

 

I dont really have any answers as to what else you can do besides an epideral just wanted to give you a :hug: I dont blame you at all for being scared to get another one!!

 

I got a spinal, not sure if it's the same as an epidural. I thought my OB said they were different but I blocked that part of my life out-hahaha. I was petrified but it didn't hurt at all and no after effects.

 

a spinal & an epidural are essentially administered the same way (catheter into the spinal area) - the medication just goes in slightly different spaces in your back.

you do have the option of general anaethesia, although i would chat with your doc about it.

as far as i know, those are the only options, but definitely talk to your doc.

 

The only other option I know of is general anesthesia, but I don't know if the Dr's would be willing to do that just because you asked. Worth a shot, but you will NOT be awake and general anesthesia can make the baby groggy too which they also do not like to do.

 

A spinal is just one shot where an epidural is continuously administered through a little tube thing (I am SO technical).

With twins, they will do everything to avoid general anesthesia because it is very unsafe for baby B.
