Advice on what glider to get

Discussion in 'The First Year' started by Jenn Wallace Collins, Feb 22, 2010.

    Hi ladies
i have another question for you!
I heard that the average rocker/glider is not comfortable for women nursing twins and we need to get an extra wide one. Any recommendations??
    Thanks!

We have a chair and a half with an ottoman. It's so big and cozy- I love it. Oh, and I'm feeding them right now in it. We had a regular Lazy Boy recliner but I never nursed in it. It was nice for rocking a baby, but it turned them into rocking addicts, LOL.

I never managed to get mine to nurse, but even bottle feeding in a smallish glider I find to be a pain now. They stretch out and kick the verticle bars that hold the armrests on, when being cradled. It only gets used for the nightime feeds. And to be honest I can't wait to get it out of the room, I don't rock them much anyways :)

I suggest if you have a twin or single nursing pillow that you want to use, take it with you chair shopping to make sure it will fit around you and in the chair.

I have a Little Castle double wide - see pic below - and love it! I don't know about nursing, but I can feed the babies their bottles easily at the same time - one in my left arm, the other next to me in his Boppy. Love it!!

I have never seen a glider with super cushiony-comfy arms that I like. The one I settled for, works great for rocking, but I nursed in the reclining chair or the couch.

I never nurse them both in our glider. If we tandem nurse, we do it on the floor, or on the couch, when they were younger. I do enjoy nursing them individually in our glider, though.

Before my first DD was born I bought a rocker recliner for a big man at a garage sale. It was not only FABULOUS for my two singletons, it was IDEAL for the twins. It fit me AND the twin nursing pillow. It's ugly as h@ll, but I never want to get rid of it. I still rock the twins in it, and they wear size 5 & 6 now! (But no, I don't nurse them still)

    Get a rocker recliner!

I don't nurse the twins in the glider rocker, I just have a simple one.

I uses the EZ-2-Nurse pillow at the beginning on the couch or my bed. Once the babies started being mobile I moved to nursing them inside the gated play area so that when one was done they could move around and not get into trouble. We still nurse in the play area now.

good luck figuring out what you need.
