Okay, so go ahead and rip me a new one, it can't be any bigger than the one I've already ripped myself!
I was bathing the girls tonight.....had one out and on kitchen island..........we know where this is going right?...
I had my hand on her as to not let her fall and I turned around for a second to reach for her lotion and she fell. I partly broke her fall and as I did I screamed cause I watched her going down. DH heard the comotion and ran into the kitchen to see what was going on...
he's concerned about her as am I. I picked her up and of course she's crying. Probably because she hit her head yes, but I bet too cause I screamed and probably scared her I'm sure.
She's fine. Her head never even got a goose egg. So I'm flippin out holding her and crying as she's crying. It's her bedtime and I'm playing worse case senerio in my head....
I put her down to sleep and she's got a concussion and won't wake up...
But I feed her anyway and we put them both down to bed. I come back out into the living room and my DH is giving me the third degree.
I love him, I do. I know he's just upset, but geeze do you really think he could say something more than what I've already told myself.
It was very stupid. I should know better. Never Never leave or turn your back on a baby. I'm terrible, am I worthy of having these two?
Geeze what if something horrible would have happened?
I just checked on her again and no lump on her head and she wakes up very easily so I know she's good, but I'll continue to wake her up for the next 4 hours checking.

I just want to bawl all night I feel so bad. I can't even look DH in the eye.
Anybody else ever feel this horrible?

Oh my goodness! It sounds like you have beat yourself up enough! It also sounds like your DH was scared too. Just chalk this up to experience, I'm sure you won't do that again! [IMG] to you, it is very scary when you are right there and watching your children about to get hurt somehow, but can't move quick enough!

Hugs to you. I know, what's it like, I've been there. My DS was 2 months old when she fell off the couch and I just panicked and cried. It was terrible. But she was okay. Don't beat yourself up. Accidents happen. [IMG]

You are NOT the first and certainly not the last mom that has happened to! Don't beat yourself up! We've all done things like that [IMG]

Please don't beat yourself up!! Accidents do happen!!
When my oldest son was 2 - he had been a wild man all morning -
when he fell asleep on the couch - instead of chancing wakening him -
I left him on the couch and took a shower - then I heard THUMP!!
he fell off of the couch and broke his collar bone - I FELT SO BAD!!
and I have NEVER left one sleeping on the couch again!

oh gosh, i know you must feel terrible and even though your DH is scared he needs to stop with the interrogation. where was he when you were bathing your two babies???

my sister dropped her son when he was an infant as she was walking down the stairs. she reached down in a panic and almost caught him and luckily for her he landed in a full laundry basket. she and i both still leave are laundry baskets at the bottom of the stairs b/c we're lazy and at least once it came in handy.

BIG HUGS to you and your Girls. I think you should ask your DH to be a little more sympathetic towards you. All these Mommies out here know that accidents happen and I'm sure you will never let anything like that happen again!!!

This caught my eye because it was in that ticker on the home page. Don't be hard on yourself over a mistake. Nothing happened, except a scare. Tell the hubby to lay off: you were shaken by the experience and need his support and concern, not his attitude!

As my ex-SiL used to say, the first one gets lots of attention when they fall over. The second one gets a band-aid and a kiss, the later ones get a "you bounce"... [IMG] (Sorry if this makes you upset: just trying to help you feel better!)

    That's funny.

I knew I'd get the right kind of advice here with the possibility of a similar situation. Not that I was looking for an "ok" because clearly I was at fault. DH and I had a long talk, he was just scared as was I. He was in the living room at the time undressing Eve and keeping her entertained. He apologized and I did too. I can guarentee that will NEVER happen again.
Happy to report Syani is sleeping, but not too soundly. I've been in there every hour waking her up and checking her head. No lumps, bumps or bruises. Whew...

Thank you all for your kind words.

Fortunately, God made babies resilient. I'll admit, I thought everybody dropped their babies at some point. That's why they are called accidents, nobody means to. My scariest drop was dropping my 2 week old baby girl on her head on the cement driveway. Granted, she was in a bouncey seat at the time, but she slipped out sideways as it was falling out of my hands and landed on her head. She cried awhile but was just fine (thanks I'm sure to my many prayers).

My mom was babysitting one time and when we returned my DD was sniffling. My mom quickly explained that they had been out on the cement patio and they were playing fetch with our yellow lab. Ally was laughing hysterically everytime the dog ran past her. She was at the toddling stage and her balance wasn't that great. One pass, the dog cut to close and knocked her right off her feet and the back of her head hit the cement.
There was a goose egg. I was worried, but my mom a nurse said her eyes are not dialated and she hasn't thrown up. As soon as the words left her mouth my dd threw-up all over me. We went right in and called the dr. We took her in and they checked her over and she was fine.
All this to say even with a goose egg and throwing up our little one ended up fine. Yours is probably even better since she has no symptoms of any trauma.
You are a great mommy. We all make mistakes and it only makes us better parents [IMG]

Dont beat yourself up about it, these things happen. I had Jack on my knee one day and when i turned round to check Sophie he fell off and landed on the floor (i have hard wood floors). He was screaming and so did i but when i checked him he was fine. He had just got a fright more than anything else. Just think this is the start of it , it will get worse when the start walking!!! x

I think everyone has done this at least once! The first time my son rolled over it was off the sofa! I know how bad you feel, but it happens!

    Ditto!

Tell your DH accidents happen, and it won't be the last.
