Administering Antibiotics

If you get a prescription filled around noon and you give the first dose right then and need to give it twice a day do you give it at night before bed or only give it once that day. I always struggle with this yet forget to ask the Ped every time I go.

 

I would give it again tonight Rachel. Hope she feels better.

 

If I gave the first dose around noon-ish, then I agree with Becky, I would give another dose before bed tonight.

 

Yes, give it again. They always have told me to do it that way. And, if you read the bottle, it says give the missed dose asap, and then give the next dose at the next doses time. And lastly, my sister is a pharmacist, and she says to do it that way as well. So, since my doc, my med bottle, and my pharmacist all say do it that way...I say give two doses :lol: I hope it works quickly for you :hug:

Yes, give them the second dose tonight.

It is amazing how much better they will feel after being on antibiotics. I notice a difference after 24 hours.

 

give it before bedtime then get to where it is every 12 hours if you're suppose to do it twice a day...

I always give that 2nd dose just before bed on the first day - even if its only been 4 hours or so.

 

Sorry about the strep. I'm glad Leah is doing better today.
