I keep seeing "adjusted age" and I know it has something to do with preemies and actual due dates, yes? But I don't know how it is actually calculated.
And what does the "d" in dd ds & dh stand for?
    I've always wondered :p

Yes, adjusted age is for people with preemies. If they are born far before their due date, they use adjusted age to figure out where they should be developmentally, etc.

As for the "d"...it generally stands for "darling". "darling daughter", "darling son".

**Adjusted age is the babies' age based on their due dates. For example, my boys were born at 35w 1d - so when their actual age was 6 weeks, their adjusted age was 1 week. Actual/Chronological Age = their age based on the date they were born. Adjusted Age = their age based on their due date. Adjusted age is important especially when determining when a baby should be meeting developmental milestones.

**D (as far as I know) = Dear (oh, just read the PPs and she said Darling - another message board I visit D=Dear)

    Hope that helps! :)

My boys were born 2 months early so their adjusted age at 2 months was zero :p . As they were developing and hitting their milestones we always knew that we could "adjust" back 2 months if need be to give them the extra time to hit a milestone.

    I read "D" as Dear.

As others have said, adjusted age is counted from when the babies were "supposed" to be born, 40 weeks gestational. Our girls were 11 weeks early so are technically 11 weeks behind developmentally. So even though they are almost 7 months old, they are on the same level of about a 4 month old, maybe a little older.

I have a niece who was born 5 days before my original due date and our babies are about at the same point as her developmentally, so I consider that to be pretty good.
