How do I know if I should be using an "adjusted age"? My ped never said anything about it to me but I'm curious now because almost everyone on here uses the age of when your babes would have born. My boys were born at 37.5 weeks ... so would mine have an adjusted age and if so, what would it be??

My question about solids is for those of you that feed your LOs together - Do you seperate their "portions" into seperate dishes and uses seperate spoons or do you feed from the same container with just one spoon (alternating kids)??

    Thanks a bunch!

:babyflips: (this is what I feel like I should be doing -- flips around everyone here at the homestead, whew!)

I just feed mine using one spoon out of one bowl. It makes it so much easier and since they share toys, I figured it would be no big deal for them to share a spoon and bowl!

Also, I wouldn't worry about adjusting the ages for your twins since they were born at 37.5 weeks.

Generally, unless babies are born before 34-35 weeks, no adjusted age is used or necessary.

As for feeding, my boys were kept on opposite sides of the table, because mostly DH would feed one, and I would feed the other, so they always had their own bowl and spoon.

This is how I did it when they were little because I just couldnt get past if one was sick then I was just giving the other one the germs. But once they got mobile and were all over each other and their toys I started using the same spoon and dish.

At 37.5 weeks there probably isnt a need to adjust for their age since if you give an additional 2.5 weeks to every developmental milestone you are still within the normal limits of completion. KWIM?

I have twin girls that will be 4 months old on monday, and I started them on solids a few weeks ago. I have been told to start them on veggies first?? They have had carrots mixed with pears and cereal and LOVE peaches. Samantha will eat from a spoon but Sophie hesitates some with it. So, I give her cereal and peaches (or carrots/pears) in her bottle. [topic="Veggies vs. Fruit"]Intoducing Solids.. What age>??[/topic]

I wouldnt put any solids in their bottle unless you need to put cereal in there for reflux. Other than that, they need to learn to eat solids off a spoon. At 4 months, they are pretty young for solids. Were they born premature? Lots of babies still have the tongue thrust reflex at that age and anything that goes in will come right back out. I would wait a couple of weeks and try again. It can take quite a few times of trying before it clicks.

"adjusted age" if for babies that were born before they were full term. since "term" is 37 weeks, yours do not need their age adjusted. that's why your doc never mentioned it!

i used separate spoons (and sometimes separate bowls) when mine were still yours' age, but i think that's a nicu habit. once they started picking up everything in the universe off the ground to put in their mouths, including each others' bottles, i realized it wasn't necessary to separate their stuff any more;). now i just do it if they are sick (though it's probably useless to do so).

When you go back to your controls and look in your signature, is it still there? If not, try again. And if so, I think there is a button on the screen that allows you to disable your signature. Is that clicked? If so, that might be the issue.
