Adjusted age or "Birth" age?

What do most of you go by in regards to most situations? (ie:rolling, crawling, solids...)
    Just curious :)

For solids, we waited till the ped told us we could, at 6 months.

Developmental stuff should go by adjusted age though for us, it's somewhere between the two. Know that in most cases, you won't hit milestones on their real age date. If it's any more than the adjusted age, bring it up with your ped. For us, 9 weeks makes a huuuuuge difference.

Mine were only 3 weeks early, and our ped never used adjusted age at all. But I found that for developmental milestones in the first 2-3 months, it was still relevant. The "fussy peak" is supposed to be at 6 weeks -- we hit it at 9. Longer sleep stretches often start around 3 months -- they happened for us at 3.5 months.

After 3 months, it didn't make any difference. But the earlier the baby is, the longer it will continue to matter.

Mine were born at 35 weeks 4 days and we really never used any adjusted ages... They did do a few things a little later and i would say well really they are 4 months not 5 but i never thought about it much to be honest...

I always go by adjusted age. Just makes sense to me - a 34 wk preemie is very different from a 40 wk newborn! They're doing everything right on time for their adjusted age.

Mine were 4 weeks early and we have always gone by actual age.

My girls were also 34 week preemies. I find that their development is right on par with their birth age, but their weight is on par with their adjusted age. I know that will catch up. We go for their 4 month appointment on the 30th of this month, so we will find out then.

I tend to go back and forth. Although for sitting up I'm choosing to go by adjusted because they're just not getting the hang of it  .

Same exact thing here and we are 34 weekers too... developmentally they are hitting milestones on birth age, size-wise they are a little small for birth age, but exactly 50th percentile for adjusted age.

We use adjusted age for everything...but our boys were born 10 weeks early.

The boys were born at 32 weeks, but we have always used their birth age rather than adjusted. Even though they were early, they've pretty much hit every milestone early or right on time. Size wise, they have definitely caught up to what a full term would be height and weight. It's hard to believe seeing them that they were preemies. They are extraordinarily hardy little fellows. They can walk, talk, climb and you should see them fight over toys. At 10 months old they are pushing their chairs up to the bed in their playroom so they can climb up on the bed and get to the window to look out. I can only imagine what they will be doing as they get older.

This has pretty much held true for us also. After month 3 or 4 it didn't seem to matter anymore, as for starting solids I didn't start them until they were a little over 6 months anyway so it didn't matter too much. I do try and remember that they WERE 3 weeks early though when I start comparing them to my friend's singleton that was due 6 weeks before them and is now 3 weeks older than them.

My boys were born at 33 weeks and I've actually asked this question myself. Yesterday the boys had their state qualified developmental assessment to see how they are doing. The boys fell at the bottom of the 3month average group, so they are good for their adjusted age (which I have been using to keep myself guiltfree). For sleep, they are following their adjusted age (although they hit that fussiness period twice...once for real and once for adjusted...UGH!).

My issue was what to tell people because my boys are just now the size my sister was when she came home from the hospital (okay she was a BIG baby!). When people ask how old they are I say in all one sentence, "they are __ months but they were born 7 weeks early". This actually deters them from asking more questions because they don't want to talk about why they were early and the gory details of birth. :) Hope this helps!
