I know, I know, it's not going to help them sleep longer. Please don't burst my bubble! Last night my daughter was up from 3 am - finally fed her at 4, and then still wide awake whining and kicking around until 5:45. Then my son was up at 6:30. This is worse than usual, so hopefully just a fluky night. But I had been thinking about trying this for awhile, since they'd been getting up to eat again between 4-6, hoping to stretch them out just a couple more hours to how it used to be.

So, for anyone who has done this...how much cereal do you add to an 8 oz bottle and what size nipple do you use?

Well we do it for reflux and have been since 4 weeks old. Our pedi told us 1 tsp for every oz. We use a level 3 Dr. Browns nipple. FYI...it didn't help them to sleep longer and they still wake up @ 5am. Who knows...maybe it will work for you. Good luck!

I just started about 2 weeks ago. I add 2 tsp to 5oz and use a medium flow nipple, it seems to work well. If they are having trouble getting it out or if they are getting too much, you will know. My girls were waking up around 3 then again at 6ish, now their first wake-up is around 530, not sure if its a coincidence or not.....good luck!

I plan on asking the pedi this wednesday when we can start adding rice cereal to their breastmilk because Hunter is feeding every hour and Morgan every hour and half!!! I can barely keep up!

My ped. approved 1 tbsp to 4 -6 oz. We use a level 3 Dr Brown's nipple.

We did this for reflux-added 1tbs of rice per ounce of bm-it worked great for reflux but sure didnt make him sleep any longer...I was really hoping it would! I am in denial and keep trying :)

I know that everyone will think I'm CRAZY but, I swear that putting cereal in my twins bottle made them sleep longer & then through the night!
I still put 1 tsp per oz in their last nightime bottle. We also use playtex ventaire stage 2 "Y" cut nipples.

    Good Luck!

    Hey

We use cereal for Masons acid reflux. The ped. suggested giving 1 tsp. per oz. of formua. (Eg. 6tsp. to a 6 oz. bottle)
And I think that it does help them sleep. After noticing that Mason was sleeping much better since we started him on the cerea, we started giving Gracie some in her last bottle before bedtime and she now sleeps from 11:00pm-7:30 am or longer. Most ped. suggest you not even put it in a bottle, but I say that sometimes you have to do what you have to do in order to not lose your mind and get some SLEEP

    God Bless

Forgot to say we use the Level 3 nipples with our Dr. Brown bottles--(tried the level 4 first, but that was a total mess) :shok:
