When you puree fruits & veggies...

When do you add liquid - while pureeing or do you wait until you thaw the foods out?
What liquid do you add - formula, water, water you cooked the veggies in?

How far in advance do you thaw the foods? Do you put them in the refrigerator the night before your babies will eat them? Straight from the freezer to microwave?

While pureeing. I only add liquid if I can't get a smooth consistency.

Water I cooked the food in, except for carrots (because of nitrates). For fruits that aren't cooked, I add regular water.

I just pop 'em in the microwave as I need them. I find with my microwave that 15 seconds per cube usually is enough to defrost the cubes without making them hot.

Ditto to the above. I usually only add liquid if I can't get the food processor to puree it enough.

I freeze in silicone muffin pans, so the "cubes" are a bit bigger. It usually takes about 30-45 seconds to defrost it in the microwave.

Same as above, (and above that) but I would set 2-3 out to thaw the day before. My kids don't like warm food (they prefer cold...weird, I know) so it was the easiest way to go.

We JUST started solids, but we've been using plain water if we needed to thin out the puree... sometimes while pureeing and sometimes after its thawed if its just a little too thick
Usually we put a few cubes in the fridge to thaw the night before.

for fruit i steam them using purified water, then use the cooking water to thin them. for veggies i never use the cooking water, but i do save the fruit cooking water to add to veggies. like i'll add apple or peach cooking water to sweet potatoes or squash or chicken.

if it's on the fly i'll sometimes add formula to thin it out.
