so i am second guessing myself here and wanting to know if there is something more i should be doing with them at this stage. i don't want to hinder their development but i also realize that they are eating so frequently (ever 4 hours) that the only time i can get anything done is between feeds and putting them down in their cribs, whether they are awake or not. soooo i'm just wondering what i "should" be doing activities wise with two one month olds. i mean, technically they aren't even supposed to be here until tomorrow (they are 5 weeks premature). they've just now started to spend more time awake but if they are quiet i let them stay in their cribs since they seem to be content with exploring their surroundings...is that bad?

I hope you take this in the spirit I am saying it in, but you REALLY need to take a deep breath and cut yourself some slack. At one month - adjusted or not - it's eat, sleep, poop. If you can get them on their tummy a couple minutes a day, pat yourself on the back. If not, don't worry about it, just try again tomorrow. Focus on their basic needs. Focus on taking care of you. You have months before you need to be worrying about activities. Feed them, change them, hold them, talk to them, love them. That's it. Put them in a bouncy or swing as much as they will tolerate it.

At one month, mine pretty much sat in their bouncy seats for any part of the day they weren't being fed or changed. They had some vibration and some spiders that went up and down (they didn't even seem to notice the spiders until closer to 2 months).

I agree with PP, Before the babies came i figured that by 6 wks i would be golden and adjusted to having twins. That was so not the case, in fact by 6 wks, I think that i was still going back to bed after every feeding until 1-3pm. Mine were very much blobs, they were just eating, sleeping and pooping, no interation what so ever. In fact i don't think that i even got my frist smile til around 9 weeks. They really didn't start to interact more til around 3 months i think..

You aren't going to do anything to hinder their devlopment right now, but you are going to be doing the best thing by taking care of you and the babies basic needs. I would sleep as much as possible right now if i were you

I don't think one month olds need activities. Just keep doing what you're doing - meeting their basic needs. Use the bouncy seat and swing, as needed. When they are 2-3 months old, they might enjoy looking at books or laying on a playmat and looking at toys.

At one month, I wasn't doing much of anything with them except feeding & snuggling with them. I would talk to them while I was feeding them sometimes, but we didn't do many activities.

At one month we were still sleep, eat, poop, REPEAT. We didnt start doing more engaging things until they could stay awake a bit between feeds.

Don't feel bad, I was wondering the same thing. My boys are 6 weeks today and all they do is sit in their bouncy seat and swing when I'm not feeding, bathing or changing them. I do try and hold them when they are awake during the day (that's happening more and more), but that's about it.

eat, sleep, poop! if you feel really motivated sing songs or play your guitar (or whatever floats your boat... kazoo?)

i also advise saving up your energy for when they hit 5 months and turn into monkeys.

    :)

at this stage it was eat, puke, sleep, puke, poop, puke, clean up puke, repeat for us. so count blessings :)

From day one...after they ate, they had tummy and back time unswaddled for 10 mintues each. After they got reswaddled and put back to bed. This happened until they were 6 weeks and then we moved on from their.

    Take a deep breath!
