This is the one my two have! I like it. We chose it because of the price and it was made of plastic. :good:

And I'm with you, it is hard keeping up with their playing needs! :umm:

This first one, I'm worried they need back support, but I like the storage:

THANK YOU for this post. We have been in the market for a craft table for the boys for a while, and haven't found anything we like yet. I really like this one.

Personally, I don't think the 'back support' will be much of an issue for my boys. I can't imagine them sitting erect enough in a chair while at the table for it to even provide support! I envision them using the table for crafts, coloring, and using manipulatives, all of which they would do leaning over the table.

However, if you had kids who were still unsteady, balance-wise then back support might be an issue.

Too bad this one isn't in stock!

I was thinking of getting activity table/chair too. Here is what I found interesting from Land of Nod (www.landofnod.com) where different height table to get sart with 15" in height. They sell sets of legs for table to grow into comes in different sizes too 15", 23" or 30".

Per ideal 15" table is design for the little ones (such as trains/craft projects). The 23" inch table is for older kids that know how to pull up the chair. And then 30" inch accomodates a computer and desk accessories.

I would buy the 15" inch table w/paper roll (special for $209) and then will buy the extra legs 23" inches at $39. For now I will buy 2 of the "oneseater" beanbags seats ($39 each). (I don't like bins under the table for knees and leg room).

My twins have a few friends now and they have play group that come to our house. This would be perfect for their play date. I just can't decide which color to get either in honey or espresso. Although, I fell in love w/my daughter's future twin bed from "PBK" that has a sleigh. I think getting her the espresso wood would be good for teen years. Eventually, I think she may will want it for her "tea party".

    The 15" inch espresso

Order extra legs for 23" (this is the picture)

    One-seater bean bag
(will buy 2) and then when they get to 23" inch we can buy the chairs at that time

    I hope this helps!

Just curious, but why do you think plastic would be better? My FIL is a woodworker (as a hobby) and has already made a table and chairs for the boys, so it won't matter for us, but I'm just wondering how the wood is going to limit us.

I think a lot of people assume that plastic is better b/c it will clean up easier. I think wood is sturdier, and with a nice lacquer finish on it, it will clean up just as well as plastic.

If you want to get an activity table for a good price, Babyage sells Today's Tots Summerside activity table with two drawers for $149. My mom got it for my kids about month ago and it is really great! It's like the one PBK has, but less than half the price, no tax and I found an online coupon for free shipping, but even if you have to pay shipping it's only about $8. It does not come with chairs - but you can always find them separately. She is going to buy two little chairs next time she's here for a visit. The kids love standing at the table and playing.

ETA: here is a link to the table I got http://www.babyage.com/products/60503_toda...h_2_drawers.htm

I saw one recently that made me wish we didn't alrady have a table! The top was chalkboard with a silver dish in the middle for crayons...My mom bought DD the Pottery Barn one for her first Bday. Almost 3 yrs later, no problems/complaints and we use it everyday. I might have been nicer to have a round one though - more kids could "crowd in" if necessary. I'm thinking - if they all have a friend over - yikes

ETA: Hannah & Natalie love to climb up in the chairs (both are very pround of this skill!), but my 3 yr old mostly stands at the table

You know what's funny, is we have a hand-me-down picnic table from our neighbors that is - I think - little tykes - but plastic dealio and I bring it inside for messy crafts and stuff and they use it outside ALL SUMMER. The LOVE their table and it really serves SO many purposes for us!

I think that plastic has a great deal of merit because they can POUND their stuff on it (forks leave dents in wood) etc. and not ruin it. It can be washed down with a scrub brush if need be. Wood is just more delicate.....FWIW!
