Hi ladies, My LO's are 3 1/2 months and was wondering if you can give me some ideas for some activities during the day with them. I'm getting very bored with what were doing. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks
at that age and a little older I started "stations"....during their awake time, I would rotate them between an exersaucer....bouncy seat.....swing.....and tummy time......with various toys and of course some reading time too!
Agree with stations and reading. Also, around that age I would occasionally do a baby einstein movie. Taking the babies on a walk was a sanity saver for myself. It really helped getting out of the house. They seem to enjoy it as much as I do.
Here too. A walk was always one thing, rotate in bouncies in front of window or i would read to them, activity mats, tummy time, bumbo seats. GL!!
I always rotated them through different areas too. For me that also included different rooms. Maybe exersaucers in the living room, tummy time in the bedroom, reading in the den, etc. so that they got a change of scenery as well.
Read, read, read. Talk, talk, talk. It seems redundant, but there wasn't a whole lot they could do at that age. We had a playmat with the animals that dangle down, so they could learn how to reach. Lots and lots of tummy time and lots of things they could put in their mouths. Til this day they usually only play with their teethers and things they can put in their mouths. They still haven't gotten the hang of the bigger more stationary toys like their music table or their learning house door thingy. Around 4 months we started putting them in their jumperoos for 10-15mins a day, now they stay in them longer because they actually know how to use them. They also used their bumbos a lot (now they are too big for them). We go on a lot of walks, go to the mall, go swimming.
I did all of the above. I'd even put bouncy chairs in the bathroom so I could shower. They liked the noise. I liked the shower. I also took daily (at least every other day) trips to the grocery store or Target. I had to get out of the house and short quick trips helped me keep my sanity.
Hanging out on a blanket outside is always fun. And singing. You might feel like a dork, but your kids will love it. Half the time I'd end up just singing 99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall because it was nice and long and I knew the words! Or play music you love and sing along to that. Let them watch you dance, or pick them up and dance with them. This next idea was stolen from the 2 Gymboree classes I went to, but it was great. I had a frameless mirror that I'd lie on the floor, then line the edges with rolled up blankets and do tummy time there. Just position them so that their shoulders are on the rolled up blankets. This way they can see their faces and swat the mirror with their hands. It is loads of fun. And you can get some small colorful balls to roll around, using the blankets as bumpers. And BUBBLES! You can easily entertain them for a while with some bubbles. Hope any of these help!
Great ideas! my MIL is going to be keeping my girls when I go back to work in 2 weeks and I want to have something for her to do with them daily.
