when my cervix has been looking good?

DH just got a job in LA from July 5th-30th. I am starting to freak, we really need the money, but I am scared about what will happen if i go into labor. Obviously he wouldnt make the birth then since I'm in MD.

34 weeks is pretty iffy, there are plenty of twin moms that make it past 34 weeks and enough that go into labor before 34 weeks to say that you're definitely not in the clear! A great looking cervix at 27 weeks can change a lot in 7 weeks.

Here are the March of Dimes stats:

Premature birth: About 60 percent of twins, more than 90 percent of triplets, and virtually all quadruplets and higher-order multiples are born premature (1). The length of pregnancy decreases with each additional baby. On average, most singleton pregnancies last 39 weeks; for twins, 35 weeks; for triplets, 32 weeks; and for quadruplets, 29 weeks (1).

How quickly do you labor? How many weeks did you make it to with your 2 prior pregnancies?

 I can't imagine how stressed you are!

i was induced at 40wks with my son (due to size - 9lbs 7oz) the induction failed and lasted 24hrs.
with my daughter i went into labor naturally on my own at 40wks and 2 days contractions started at 5am, we went to the hospital at 8am and she was born at 10:30am.

Honestly you just never know. :pardon: My oldest DD was born a week late, so I had no history of PTL, but had the twins pretty early (and it happened pretty suddenly). You just don't know what is going to happen with a twin pregnancy.

I didn't think there was ANY way I could make it this far. I have a couple friends that have had twins and they had theirs at 35wks. I am 35wks 5days now and am doing fine. Well...no dialation and still a good cervix, so they think I will make my C Section date in 10 days, but as the other posters have said, things can change quickly. I had my daughter at 38wks but she was induced with no previous PTL issues, so I probably would have made it to 40wks with her, but my placenta starting pooping out on her, so they wanted to bring her earlier (one of the reasons I am having the twins at 37wks instead of 38). Good luck!! If I were you, I would be taking it as easy as possible in hopes to make it past 34wks...it's doable for the most part (without anything creating issues).

i'm desperately searching for a mother's helper right now. i need someone who can drive (don't have a car) so i can get to all my appts, get my daughter to her endocrinology and gi appts, and get my son to his speech/ot/behav psych appts. As well as grocery shop........ooooooo boy.

i don't even have a mattress or bedding for the cradle yet.

You just never know! I was lucky and had no bedrest or complicatins at all. I delivered at over 37 weeks on the day of my scheduled c-section. Good luck!

As far as getting all the 'stuff' you need - you should try to online shop as much as possible. I'm almost 32 weeks and I can't imagine grocery shopping, let alone shopping for mattresses or bedding! I used WalMart's online site a ton and everything is shipped pretty inexpensively - most for 97cents or free. As for grocery shopping - I just tried online grocery shopping earlier this week and seriously? It's amazing. I told my husband that even when I'm NOT pregnant anymore, I will continue the online grocery shopping. what an amazing invention! Good luck!!

they don't have online grocery shopping at any of the stores in my area, BUT i just got grocery shopping covered. My parents will drive to pick me and the kids up every saturday afternoon, then bring us back home sunday afternoon after church and will take me grocery shopping then. that's alot of driving on them since we are around an hour away, but I am thrilled they are willing to do it.

i just need to figure out the weekdays and how to get to all the appts.

i'd love to get everything we needed now, but its just not in the budget. i'm still trying to convince my parents to move the shower up from 36wks.....

  11. Agreed, you just never know. My daughter was five weeks early but the twins didn't want to come out! I was induced at 38 weeks!

It could go either way, but I think the odds are high that you will go to the hospital at least once before then, even if you don't deliver, for testing, pre-term labor, high blood pressure, or any of the other things that come with twin pregnancy. Also, I would really push for that shower to be before 36 weeks, you need time to see what you still need and purchase it and time to get things washed and put away - you will not feel like it after 30 or so weeks! And by the way, my twins are being delivered Friday at 36 weeks and I have been on strict bedrest since 31 weeks due to high blood pressure and was having a perfectly normal pregnancy before that.

I'm 35 weeks, and haven't grocery shopped since about 30. Definitely get your shopping done early!

I wish we had internet grocery shopping available. I seriously should move just for that!
