Im still trying to imagine a 3 y/o cleaning up their own pee & poo and wondering. After they are all done doing whatever their version of "cleaning" is, do you clean again?
I think Im the type that after they cleaned it, Id be following them around with a towel and some bleach spray sanitizing whatever they went on.

Then Im wondering, if they see me doing that, will they just refuse to clean it up all together or are 3 year old still obedient? What do you do when your 3 year old tells you no?

Im so glad I have time to learn all about PTing.....although not to much time...

umm...I give him a paper towel and have him sop it up and then I generally go back with the Rug Stick and scrub the rug...

I had to laugh at the idea of me having my own PT method! I have felt like at PT failure for 2 years!

I did make him clean it up. First I made him take off his wet clothes and put them in a hamper I had set aside just for that. Then I have him diaper wipes and made him wipe off his legs and feet. If it was really bad, I'd plop him in the bathtub after everything was cleaned up.

If it was on hard flooring, I gave him paper towels and made him mop it up and put the wet towels in a plastic grocery bag. After it was all mopped up, I did a quick spray and wipe with bleach cleaner. But, the majority of the cleaning was him.

On the carpet I gave him paper towels and had him soak up most of the moisture and put the wet towels in a plastic grocery bag. Then, we got out my hand-held steam cleaner and he helped me clean it up. I made him stay there and hold on the entire time and I it took a while because I went over the area about ten times!

I didn't get him clean underwear or pants until he was completely done cleaning everything up. He hates being naked, so that was a big problem for him!

As for poop...Ian has very solid poop, so it was easier to clean up than the pee. But, the section of the book the nurse read actually said to make them wash the underwear out in the toilet. :bad: Glad I didn't have to do that!

ugh :bad: It all makes sense.
I guess I need to get a steam cleaner before we start potty training. Oh I have so much to look foward to. ;)

I'm sure you can do it without it. Just get some carpet spray and make them scrub, scrub, scrub! But, if you do get one, I just use my hand-held one for stuff like this. I hate dragging out the big one for one little spot!

I just want to re-iterate what Stacy is saying here. Whoever makes the mess cleans it up at our house. Toys, changing clothes 20x/day, random pee/poop in random places. I also have the girls wipe up potty accidents, and then I handle the "chemicals".
