I've been on bedrest for pretty much 4 plus weeks now. I'm allowed up to use the restroom and take a quick shower. Here recently though I get what feels like contractions everytime I get up, my stomach tightens, alot of rectal pressure and cramping. It does go away after I sit back down, but it usually takes awhile. Is this normal??? I was in the hospital on mag and teb at 27wks due to preterm labor and have been back to L&D 4 times since due to regular contractions. I also get alot of rib and chest pains at night while I'm sleeping, along with the horrible pelvic anf hip pain when I try to switch sides. Is all this normal???? I've talked to my dr about it, but he doesn't seem to concerned, just keeps telling me I'm pg with two what do I expect. Thanks in advance for any input you may have.

I had the contractions every time I would get up to use the restroom. It's a combination of the increased activity and the full bladder. Just make sure those are included if you are counting contractions. I also had that hip/pelvic pain when switching sides. I felt like I needed a crane for my belly just to roll over! How far along are you? I was on bedrest from 28-37 weeks. :hug99:

I'm 31wks 2days. My dr says if I can make it to 34 weeks he will not stop labor. I've been on bedrest since 27 wks due to dilating, effacing, and contracting every 4-5 mins. I can't wait till this is all over and I have my girls in my arms. :)

I was put on bedrest at 28 weeks for effacing and contractions. It's so stressful. Hang in there! With me, the roughest part, as far as the contractions, was between 28 and 33 weeks, and then, they seemed to slack off a bit. I ended up delivering at 37 weeks because of my blood pressure. :hug99:

Hi, I've been on bedrest for over 6 weeks now and have the horrible hip/pelvic pain too. At night it seems like I have to get up every 1-2 hrs to pee which works out well because that's about how long I can lay on my side before I need to switch to the other side cause it's so painful...

I'm not sure about the contraction feeling every time you get up, probably just the act of getting up causes a contraction for you. Just try to hang in there a bit longer! My doctor told me to try and make it to 35 wks so that if I went into labor I could deliver in town, so I still have a couple more weeks left as well.
