Do identical twins actually look identical?
I know it sounds like a silly question, i'm just curious as to what to expect :p

For the most part .. yes. They have the same hair and eye color and most of the same features. However, sometimes size differences or health issues can make them look very different. Mine had a 2 lb difference when they were first born and it was easy to tell them apart .. as they get older though, they look more and more alike. So, it all depends on your specific twins, BUT most parents of ID twins swear their twins look NOTHING alike even though everyone else thinks they do. :)

Quite often you'll hear us moms of ID's talk about their head shape difference. One usually has a more rounder head, the other a more elongated one. My boys have the same hair color, eye shape, and noses but Baby A has one cheek dimple and Baby B has two cheek dimples. Oh and one of my boys privates are alittle smaller than his brothers.

My sister & I are identical. We always looked the same until we were older. After, we turned 30 we really started looking different. I think we look like sisters now.. She weighs like 10 lbs less than I do. Our hair cut/style is different. But, our parents use to dress us alike most of the time growing up! But, you can tell us apart especially when we were younger (at least I can) One has an oval shaped face & one round! That's how I tell identical twins apart in seconds!!!!! :D

Our ID girls have the same features, but Auror is bald on the top of her head and weighs 3lbs less than her sister.

Dont worry. Its not too often that I hear about parents that cant tell their newborn twins apart (although it DOES happen). Even with the most ID of twins .. theres usually some subtle differences that help mom and dad and caregivers tell them apart. But I have also heard stories of nail polish on the toe or dressing them in a specific color.

It's highly likely that they will be born with different head shapes (see a current thread in the parent's club) due to the fact that they are in different positions in the womb. I refused to believe my girls were identical at first because they were born looking so different. As they grew and began to fill out, then they started looking more and more alike. But there way no way we could have mixed them up in the first 3 months.
