When I went to the doctor at 14 weeks I asked when do they recommend doing the 3-d ultrasound. My doctor told me to ask the lady that will be doing my next ultrasound @ 18 weeks to check the fluid and then she could tell me. I don't want to spend $150 and not be able to see the faces clearly. (like I have seen on some of my friends)
[IMG] Has anyone else had it done and if so how are along were you? Could you see the babies clear like you do in a singleton pregnancy?
Thanks in advance for all of your answers.

i had the 3d/4d ultrasound, and i think it was around 25 weeks... a little too late in my opinion. the lady couldn't get a good pic of baby a and she tried moving me and i was in there for about 40 minutes. here is a link of mine that my dh put into a video. the first baby face you see is our girl, baby b.

i thought i remember them saying twins' 3d/4d is best around 22-24 weeks.

Most offices have machines that are capable of doing 3/D u/s, but because they are not as useful for diagnosing they won't ever use it one you. So bring it up with your sonographer as see if s/he won't just give you a quick peek at the faces after s/he has completed all the necessary measurements. Most won't voluntarily offer to do it until you ask. I did just this and got some face shots of my boys at 22 wks. That was really all she could get even then. So the earlier you can try for a 3/d, the better luck you will have at getting good pics of them. [IMG]

glad it worked, and that you enjoyed it. [IMG] i definitely think it was worth the money, even though the pics aren't all that defined.

My doctors office machine does have the ability to do 3-d. They have signs hanging in the lobby saying "Don't forget to sign up for you 3-d ultrasound $150" I go back on March 1st for my level II u/s and I will ask to see and the worst she can say is no.

Wow I feel very lucky all of a sudden. I get a 3D every time I have a regular u/s. I dont know if they do it for everyone or if it is because we have really good (fed. government) insurance. I think our best pics were done at 13 weeks, but the best face pics came at different times Baby A at the 26 week scan and baby B's photo op came at the 30 Wk. (keep in mind that was their faces... the best of their whole body like hands and feet was earlier) I also think we have been the 1st set of twins at our clinic since they got all their new high tech equipment so maybe I am getting special treatment?? Hope I helped a little. (and I hope I dont sound like I am bragging.. I didnt mean it to sound that way.) [IMG]

I just got the 3D/4D Ultrasound on Monday - at 23 weeks. The pictures of their faces and body came out great. At times it was difficult for them to take a good picture of Baby B since she kept moving so much. That's my hyper baby. [IMG]

But the technician was patient and was able to get some great pictures of both girls. I've been told that it's best to wait until you get to 28 weeks to take the pictures since the pictures are a lot more clearer but with twins there's no guarantee the babies will be facing in the direction of the camera. I was too excited and couldn't wait, so I had it done at 23 weeks.
