Abigail and Michael are here!

Hello,
My twins are finally here! Tuesday night I went to the bathroom a couple times and my urine was really cloudy. I didn't think much of it. Turns out this was my water breaking and there was vernix in it that made it cloudy. Then Wednesday I was noticing a little leaking here and there, but nothing substantial. I thought for sure it was just urine. Finally about 4 pm I called the doctor and he said to go ahead to labor and delivery to test for amniotic fluid. My husband and I were convinced it was going to be a false alarm, but the test quickly confirmed that I was leaking water. Baby A's bag was still bulging, so they figured B must have a small tear and it was leaking down. I wasn't in pain and just having mild contractions here and there. Doctor broke Baby A's water at about 530. Within a few minutes I was having hard contractions and each one was more painful. About 45 minutes later anesthesia arrived to put in my epidural. I was at 3 cm when I arrived. The rest of labor was uneventful, I was just laying around with no pain until about 1 am when I started feeling pressure. I was about an 8. They wheeled me to the section room and got ready for labor. About 145 I started pushing. At 241 am Abigail Jo was born at 5 lbs 11 oz, 20 in long. She got a 8 on her apgar and was doing well. Baby B was breech and started to come down butt first, but then decided to have one leg up and one leg down. We tried to use pushing to adjust him and my doctor reached in several times to try to grab his legs. Then his heart rate started going down with each contraction. They decided I needed a c-section to get him out before his heart rate got too low. So about 3 am they took Abigail to the nursery and moved me from the delivery bed to the section bed and started giving me more meds through epidural and gas mask. They instantly started cutting and pulling him out and I felt a lot of it. Michael David was born at 3:08 am at 4 lbs 5 oz, 18 in long. As soon as he was out, I passed out from the trauma. My husband was in the room and took lots of pictures and short videos. Michael got a 7 for apgar. Once they were both cleaned up the were sent to the nursery to get their shots and get warmed up. Later they got their baths, got warmed up again, and then were brought to my room to try to breastfeed. Neither really knew what to do, but we have been working on it all day and are getting better. So far their only problems have been staying warm. Hopefully that will be all solved by the time we leave in 4 days.

Sorry this is so long, but here is basically the worst case scenario for delivery and I made it through!

Hej momma, great job, sounds like your little man has his own way of doing things, since he got the whole thing started and then decided to make his entrance on his terms. I bet he will be a great man with lots of leadership and courage. Glad to hear everything went well in the end despite the dramatic ending, wow your a trooper :good:
