Abdominal Discomfort

To make a long story short....I experienced a stillbirth at 31 weeks last year (singleton pregnancy) and needless to say, I am a bit on edge this time around, especially since we are having twins. My doctor has been very supportive in answering all my questions and calming my fears. He's even given me permission to be a "frequent flyer" at the Labor Deck (at the military hospital). I feel comfortable going to the hospital at any time, but I'm not overly concerned about this particular issue...I just need feedback from other ladies pregnant with twins.

I am experiencing a burning-like sensation in my stomach, slightly to the right of my navel. My stomach has even gotten hard when I feel this, but I haven't noticed a pattern (as if these were BHs). I've been feeling this off and on for several weeks, and when I've gone to the doctor, everything looked fine - I wasn't experiencing any detectable contractions and my cervix was nice and closed. They attributed my discomfort to round ligament pain.

But now I'm wondering if this is intestinal...gas or constipation. Things are pretty smushed in there right now. My question to you is, how does gas and constipation feel to you now that you are pregnant with twins? Where do you feel the discomfort?

P.S. I also had my gall bladder removed late last year. Has anyone who's had this surgery experienced discomfort in that area now that you are pregnant?

so sorry for your loss... I can imagine you have a right to be a little more parinoid than the average pg momma!!

I've had gallbladder issues in the past, but never anything left of my belly button..

I would guess that it would be your round ligaments too.. either that or maybe one of the babies is just pushing uncomforably there?... I know my little one this time around loves shoving her butt/knees out as far as she can, a little to the left of my belly.. and it hurts really bad. I've physically pushed back on her to try to get her to chill out and not push so hard. Literally I can practically grab a little round nobby thing that feels like it's either her knee or her hip.... little stinker.

usually if I have gas or other intestinal issues I tend to feel it on both sides of my uterus, and just towards my back in general.

Sorry I'm not much help.... I think I would still guess that it's ligament issues related to your belly expanding so much more... your skin can also get painful as your belly grows...

Hope you have a healthy and happy remainder of your pg and deliver two very healthy babies!!

I would get a similar pain you are describing if I walked too much. But it would just come and go. I never even asked about it, but it's gone away since then. I figured it was just my skin stretching.

I've also had my gallbladder out and I don't have any pains from it not being there.

    Sorry I'm not more helpful.

I've seen this posted about a lot on other pg sites, and I ge tit from time to time, too. It's painful, like a burn, right near the left of my belly button. It's ligaments stretching/burning.

I am so sorry for your loss.
I had my gallbladder taken out in 2005 and even before pregnancy, I always had a little twinge of pain on my right side but never to the left of my belly button. However, it sounds to me that you might have the round ligament stretching.

I am glad that everything is checking well when you go to the doctor. I hope you have a happy, wonderful and blessed pregnancy!
