A TERRIBLE HABIT! NEED HELP PLEASE!

you guys, elyse has started sucking her thumb and twisting her hair. i can deal with the thumb-sucking, but the hair-twisting really concerns me because the hair ends up out of her head. i don't know if she's pulling her hair out, or if she is working it so much that it just comes out. i took her to get her hair cut shorter, but that didn't help... she just twists higher. we've tried rewards, bribes, having her wear a glove... i don't know what to do! what can we do??? i'm worried

 

How much is she pulling out? Enough to cause a bald spot? If not, I wouldn't really worry about it. My DD has done this (sucking the thumb and twirling the hair) for about a year and it hasn't caused any damage other than one small section having slightly shorter pieces. I doubt anyone but me would even notice.

Those are my questions as well. I twirl my hair and have ever since I can remember. My mom says I started once my hair was long enough to twirl. :wacko: Like pp said, I do have shorter strands in that region because due to the twirling, hair does fall out. I wouldn't be concerned unless she is pulling it out. Or if you are really concerned, maybe you could give a call to your doctor.

 

Can you give her something else to twirl? Maybe a blanket with tassels or a doll with yarn hair?
