A Sled for Two?

I live in an area that receives a lot of snow in winter, and my stroller doesn't deal well with snowy sidewalks. I'd love to find some sort of sled that would fit them both for short walks around the neighbourhood in the winter, but I haven't been able to find one that would work well for 2 toddlers. Anyone out there know of a good one? Preferably one with 2 seatbelts?

    Thanks!

HI, I used to live in rural northern WI, and we had problems finding a sled for 2 when the girls were 18 months last winter... DH got a donated, old style wooden sled. and Rigged it up. He acquired 2 heavy duty cardboard boxes and reinforced them with packaging tape in and out. Then He screwed the boxes into the sled. kids could sit comfortably in this embarrassing contraption without getting snowplowed. Trouble was that it was difficult to turn without "spilling" the kids out into the snow. DH ended up putting some wooden "wings" on the sled so it wouldn't tip over while turning on some of the trails or in the yard.

I found this contraption to be just as good as 2 single sleds.

If you are going to have alot of outdoor activity, then I would suggest checking out this website for outdoor strollers. They are available at sporting goods stores (for a hefty price). You can also buy skis to click onto the Chariot so you can go cross country skiing and tow the children or you can push them along in this as well. I was going to buy one for us until I realized this stroller cost as much as we were paying for our house note at the time.

I have not tried/seen these in action, but might work to get you outside in the snow. They are stroller skis

Thanks for the great ideas - I especially like those stroller skis. After posting, I did a bit more research and found this sled:

    Twin Baby Sleigh

Note that I'm in Canada, so this is the Canadian Sears website, but it might be available in the U.S. as well if anyone else is interested in it. It's on back order here, but I've ordered one and am hoping it arrives before winter is over. In the meantime, I may check out some of the other potential solutions as I could always cancel my order if I find something else that would work.

We have the Chariot p31Heather mentions. It ROCKS!

We don't get snow too often...but I took it out last year in 6-12 inches of snow without the ski attachments (just the jogging stroller wheels).

Here's proof of our Chariot taking on 8" of snow last winter! View attachment 2153

I'm glad you posted this, though. We'd like to take the boys sledding in the next month and don't have proper gear for it.

I am in Canada too. My parents got our girls a wagon from Lee Valley. It has wheels and sleigh attachments so it can be used in all 4 seasons. It is big enough for both girls with plenty of room to spare. I think it also has a weight limit of 100lbs. It is really easy to take the sleigh attachments off and put the wheels on and vice versa. I tried to find it online but couldn't. If you have a Lee Valley near you, you should check it out. Oh, it doesn't have seatbelts though but we have decided that we are going to try to rig something up ourselves!!
