A MIRACLE!

Last Friday - I was SO discouraged. I had just put Zayne down for a nap and when I left her room I started to cry out of frustration with the fact that she was still not potty trained! Jason called and I told him that I wished I could just drop the kids off at someone's house and say "Here - potty train them." . I was coming to the end of myself. I tried putting them on the potty every 10 or 15 minutes and it was always a HUGE ordeal that I felt was making them hate the potty more and more each day.

Zayne had NEVER told me that she had to pee before she peed in her diaper. I would get so discouraged when I would hear 1 year olds tell their moms that they had to pee....what is wrong with my kids!!??!!

I had several people tell me that they just locked themselves in a room for a week with the kid and the potty and that is all they did....ahem...I have TWO kids here....and it's just me!! There was no way on EARTH I was doing THAT! There had to be another way. We had been working on this for 9 months now and it was wearing me out!!

Last Saturday morning...a week ago yesterday, I got the kids up and....put panties on Zayne. Now, let me tell you, I did this once before last month. She went through 3 panties in LESS THAN 30 MINUTES. So I was half expecting the same outcome.

Well, she had one accident before nap time....progress.

After nap, we put her back in panties and was doing really well! She had another accident, and it DEVASTATED her...she was cried because she peed in her panties!

Sunday, we had her in her diaper for the morning at church, so we did not really work on it that day.

Monday, we had her in panties all day and she had one small accident because she was gated in a room and she couldn't get to the potty.
Since Tuesday, we have had NO accidents!! She wears a diaper for naps and bed times....but is in panties all day. We have taken her to church, shopping, and even to the gym!

On Thursday night, we went to the gym and we thought that the staff would not be able to take her to the potty or that she wouldn't ask - so we put on a diaper just to make sure we were safe. Well, when we went to pick up the kids, the staff told us she asked to go potty 2 times!!!! IN A DIAPER!! She has NEVER done this before! She was totally dry when we got home!!!

I love the fact that she just goes on her own, too. I was in the kitchen, talking to my mom when all of a sudden we heard *FLUSH* and Zayne announce that she went potty! She went into the bathroom, and climbed up on the large toilet without a training seat on it and did her thing, all by herself! We had her show us how she got up there and it was pretty funny - feet'n everything, just to go potty!

She loves to wear her panties now, and when we put her a diaper, she wants her panties on top.
We got to go shopping for some new panties at Winners - she is so tiny, even size 2T is HUGE on her! Anyhow, she found a package of ones she liked and called out "Look, Mommy! They match my shoes!!!" My husband just laughed - typical girl. That is certainly not something we will ever hear McAuley say! LOL!!

Gotta match those panties to your shoes....

Zayne even does poops on the potty! Well, she calls them "Sneezes". I am not sure where that came from, but it might have to do with a time that she had a cold, and sometimes when she sneezed, she would poop. So now, she tells me she did a "Big Sneeze" on the potty!!

This is a very exciting milestone for me....to have a potty trained kid when potty training was the last thing on earth I wanted to do....we went from nothing to something overnight. We still put a diaper on for nap and bed time, but the last 2 days in a row, she has been dry at nap time and called for me when she had to pee or poop. I know it's only time before she is totally trained!
There is a light at the end of the tunnel!

That is so exciting! The girls are quickly approaching 3 and we've not made much progress, so it's good to hear a success story!

Thanks guys!! I guess she was just ready for it, and knew exactly what to do. Now - if only I could keep her from using the entire roll of toilet paper- and get her to put her panties on again by herself...lol!

Wow, that is amazing! I haven't even thought about getting underwear yet. Pretty cool that it went so easily.

Zayne is now wearing panties at nap time with no accidents....she is still in a diaper for bedtime, and she is usually really wet. She has been dry at nap time for 4 days now...even when we put her in a diaper.
Sometimes the potty becomes a game, though - like she will ask to go potty when she is in the middle of dinner - and she won't eat. She figures that saying that she has to go potty means she can get down and not eat. And most nights, she wants to sit on the potty instead of go to bed. She doesn't have to go, it's just an excuse to stay up!!

She is getting better at holding it - when she started she was peeing pretty much every 5 min! Now she is holding it a bit more...and doing more on the potty. :)
