You know I have really come to appreciate the handicap bathrooms in public. I really like the ones with the handrails because they really come in handy to pull yourself up. I wish I had them in my own bathroom. [IMG] Hmmmm, think DH would install them in the bathroom and beside the bed?

lol. [IMG] i actually got one installed on the bathtub to get in and out of the bathtub. and i have to wake up my husband to get out of bed to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. too bad he can't make a contraption so that i wouldn't have to wake him. it's much easier when he helps me get out of bed though. if he doesn't, i'll sometimes get that horrid round ligament pain. I want those hand grips they give to people in traction to help them pull up in bed! I have the hardest time getting out of bed, made worse by the fact that our bed comes up to my mid-hip. You kind of have to hop down and that really bites. I LOVE what my husband calls the "oh crap grips" in the car....actually that is the clean version. I have to use them to get in and out now.

You make a very good point! I remember how accommodating those handles were. I had forgotten. LOL

[IMG]!! I almost got STUCK in a bathroom stall at Target towards the end of my pregnancy!! the door opened toward the inside and I
was too large to get out!!! the handles are great also!! it would have been REALLY nice to have had them while I was pregnant and also after my c-section!!

I had the rails installed in my main bathroom and shower when I was taking care of my grandmother. She passed a week before her 87th birthday and my son was born on her birthday (she always said he would be). I never got around to taking them down, between taking care of my baby and cleaning out her stuff. Im so glad I didnt, that bathroom is mine. I told my kids and my DH stay out! makes life so much easier trying to pull my big huge body up. hehe

I don't need the rails for the toilet but one next to the bed would be nice. I have to scoot over to the edge of the bed until I can drop my legs off the side then pull myself up using the side of the dresser.
Luckily our bathroom is really close or I might be wanting one of those port-a-potty things next to my bed too.

I need handles to get up too!! I have a sleep number bed and have let almost all the air out of it to make it super soft and support my belly... the down side once i "sink in" it is really hard to get out!!! One more funny... I nearly knocked a little girl over at church yesterday ... she was under my belly and I couldnt see her and the got the tummy right in the side of her head... thank the good lord her mother laughed at me!!
