A good visit with Grandma

We had a great few days. My mother came to visit starting last Thursday night. The boys got to see her before going to bed. Then Friday morning, they went to their first 2 year old gym class (they are still only 21 months this month). They did very well with the older kids. They followed most instructions pretty well and had a blast playing with their Grandma who came along to see them in their class.

Later on, my aunt (my mother's sister) came to visit them just in time for them to have a romp outside. My aunt and my mother had a good time with that. For some reason, they don't believe me that I do take the boys outside the house! It was nice for them to see that the boys do get out once in a while. My mother wanted to get them a slide for outside, but we'll have to do that another day. We didn't have time. Later that night, my mother watched the boys for the night as Jason and I went to see Melissa Gilbert in the musical, The Little House on the Prairie. It was great! It was nice getting out with DH and not just for dinner and a movie. We hadn't seen a musical in so long! We had front row seats too!!! It was awesome! :woo:

Yesterday, we woke up early and headed off to the Life and Science museum for the first time. It was much bigger than we thought! There was a petting zoo, which would have been great, but I'm too allergic to too many animals, especially horses. I think the donkey was the cause of my wheezing this time. We had to pass on that. We decided to go around the large loop to see the lemurs, wolves, and bears. The lemur exhibit was nowhere to be found. I'm thinking it was closed for the winter. It was 75 degrees out, but it is still expected to be cold at this time. We did, however, saw the wolves. The boys thought they were dogs and started to imitate dogs. It was so cute!!! They loved the wolves...one of my favorite animals!!! They enjoyed watching the one pacing back and forth (I think that one was bored :(). Then we saw the bears. Kiefer was a bit more impressed than Cameron, but neither of them were as interested in those bears. kind of funny, since the mama bear and baby bear were wrestling which was so cute to watch! You'd think some fun action like that would have caught the boys' interest more. There was a dinosaur exhibit there too where they could have dug up some dinosaur bones themselves, but it was really hot. I could tell they were starting to get a bit overheated, and it was time to go home. It was already close to naptime anyhow. I'm just so bummed I forgot my camera. They looked so adorable wearing their monkey backpacks walking through most of the museum's trails.

They came home and had a good 3-1/2 hour nap. My mother went home. When I came back, there was a party next door. Their teenager (high school...probably junior high, maybe senior) must have had a birthday. My boys were playing in their playroom on the first floor, however they were much more interested in the kids playing Frisbee in our yard. I don't mind as long as they don't break anything. They were actually being very nice about my stuff. For a good half hour. a bunch of the teen guests were playing with my boys through the playroom window. It was funny as I was talking to DH, a very large thin hand reaches up and touches the window from outside. The boys were trying to play with it. They were having so much fun with these kids. DH was telling me when he first walked in, there were two teen girls playing peek-a-boo with my boys through the window. They saw him and ran off like they were caught stealing or something. DH thought it was funny. He's a tall man and they were probably a bit startled by his size.

I just enjoy those small moments with the boys. They really do see the world in a new light, and it fascinates me when I'm a part of it.

It sounds like you had a really nice weekend. :) I can't wait to bring my boys to the zoo; unfortunately this being Michigan, it probably won't be warm enough for another 2 months! ;)
