    hello, twin moms-to-be!

dh and i got our registry started today, and we did a lot of research before going to babies r us. however--not enough! i would love to know what some of you have used and what you prefer...

--i know that most of you have gone w/the snap-n-go w/the car seats at first, and then moved up when the babies were 6-7 months. which stroller did you decide on then?

--did anyone have a a jogging stroller, an umbrella stroller (or even single strollers) in addition regular stroller? can you have too many?;)

--can you reco a good nursing pillow to use w/twins?

--did you use the same nursery pattern for both babies?

--has anyone heard of a hands-free breast pump? i thought that medela had one, but i can not seem to find it.

i'm sure i will have more q's at time goes on, but those are the main things i'd love to know right now.

    thanks sooo much!

best of luck and take care, jl

--i know that most of you have gone w/the snap-n-go w/the car seats at first, and then moved up when the babies were 6-7 months. which stroller did you decide on then? We went with the Graco duroglider and infant seats from the start, we still use the stroller.

--did anyone have a a jogging stroller, an umbrella stroller (or even single strollers) in addition regular stroller? can you have too many?wink.gif We actually have 2 durogliders (1 for my car, 1 for DH's car), and two umbrella strollers. Occasionally one of us will take one baby and they other will take the other so they have come in handy.

--can you reco a good nursing pillow to use w/twins? Didn't nurse.

--did you use the same nursery pattern for both babies? Yep, but both of mine are girls.

--has anyone heard of a hands-free breast pump? i thought that medela had one, but i can not seem to find it. I *made* a hands free pumping bra out of a sports bra. I just cut holes over the nipples and put the shields in the holes. It worked great, and sports bras are cheap.

Good Luck on finishing your registry.

--i know that most of you have gone w/the snap-n-go w/the car seats at first, and then moved up when the babies were 6-7 months. which stroller did you decide on then? We had the Graco duoglider, the car seats fit right in it and it can be used as a regular stroller as well. I am still using it.

--did anyone have a a jogging stroller, an umbrella stroller (or even single strollers) in addition regular stroller? can you have too many? ;) We got the Babytrend jogger, which is okay, I use it only for walking, not running. If you run, you should research the Babyjogger, the BOB, etc. We now (since the baby) also have a Peg Perego triplette, a Baby Jogger triple and a Graco single stroller.

--can you reco a good nursing pillow to use w/twins? I didn't nurse

--did you use the same nursery pattern for both babies? My twins are in the same room. We did an apple green paint and the bedding is Malawi from Babies R Us. It is animals (giraffes, elephants, etc).

--has anyone heard of a hands-free breast pump? i thought that medela had one, but i can not seem to find it.

My boys will be two and this is what we used...

--i know that most of you have gone w/the snap-n-go w/the car seats at first, and then moved up when the babies were 6-7 months. which stroller did you decide on then? I had a double snap-n-go for those many trips to the mall in the winter and a Duoglider in the beginning, which I loved and have a newer model now.

--did anyone have a a jogging stroller, an umbrella stroller (or even single strollers) in addition regular stroller? can you have too many? I had a single stoller and my mom had two...we never used! I had a Kolcraft side by side which I used all the time to take walks etc. (not good for the mall) they grew out of that this year. 2 Duogliders...my favs. And 2 hand me downs an Eddie Bauer tandem also never used way too heavy and hard to get around with and a jogging stroller also used a handfull of time to take walks also too heavy compared to the duogliders and side by side.

--can you reco a good nursing pillow to use w/twins? I didn't nurse

--did you use the same nursery pattern for both babies? Yes I had B/B and their pattern was from BRU's Just Born line it was the lions, giraffees and bears

Yes that is the name of the twin pillow. It is highly reccomended by the nursing Moms on this site, You can go to the Breastfeeding forum, and there are some great mom's in there, and they will answer all of your questions, breast pumps, bras, pillows...you name it! Ask away!!

We have bought the same pattern of bedding for both babies, we are having two boys...but I had decided that even before we knew the genders. We chose the Alphabet Soup made by Calcola.

    Good luck,

    Missy

--i know that most of you have gone w/the snap-n-go w/the car seats at first, and then moved up when the babies were 6-7 months. which stroller did you decide on then?
We will get the Maclaren Twin Techno. https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?p...duct_skn=678721
It had great reviews in Baby Bargains, is lightweight, and super easy to steer! No way I would get the duoglider - I tried it out and it was way too heavy! Plus, I don't think it would fit in my car. This one is nice, it folds up pretty small.

--did anyone have a a jogging stroller, an umbrella stroller (or even single strollers) in addition regular stroller? can you have too many?wink.gif
    Not planning on it

--can you reco a good nursing pillow to use w/twins?
People here have recommended the EZ2Nurse pillow, which I will be getting.

--did you use the same nursery pattern for both babies?
I am doing pink, green, and blue gingham, all from Tadpole basics. Both cribs will have green gingham cribskirts. 1 will have pink gingham sheets and bumper and the other will have blue gingham sheets and bumper.

--has anyone heard of a hands-free breast pump? i thought that medela had one, but i can not seem to find it.
I think I saw this either at the Babies R Us site or an amazon.

We have the Combi Counterpart II tandem stroller and love it, it's way lighter than the duoglider and both carseats snap in, I like it better than the snap and go b/c we can use it even after they are out of the carriers. we plan on getting the combi side by side when the babies get bigger.

I will just give my two cents on the breast pump. You should *seriously* consider an electric model. They are pricier, but they save sooo much time. Believe me, your hand will be so tired after pumping one breast manually, you will run out and get an electric one. I exclusively BF my daughter for almost a year and used the Medela Pump In Style Advanced. I was able to pump both breasts in 15 minutes or less. You would be pumping forever with a hand pump. Again, just my two cents, but most women I know that bought a manual one gave up and bought an electric one soon after.

We got the Graco Quattro Duo Stroller and the Graco SafeSeat car seats to snap into it.
For one of my showers I also received the Double Snap n Go. I wasn't planning on getting this, but am thinking that I will be glad in the long run. I think it might be easier for me to get around when I am alone with the Snap n Go ~ will have to see though! Another bonus for the Snap n Go is that it has a big huge bin underneath it which if I HAVE to go to the grocery store alone with the babies I can put more things under the Snap n Go than I could with the Graco stroller....secretly though I am not planning on going to the grocery store alone with both babies for awhile!!! :)

I also got 2 boppys instead of the twin nurser pillow.

As for the nursery, I did the same for both (2 girls though...)

I borrowed a Mustela electric pump from a family member, though not sure if I will be able to breast feed or not (due to breast reduction). But if I am I heard the electric pumps are the way to go :)

--i know that most of you have gone w/the snap-n-go w/the car seats at first, and then moved up when the babies were 6-7 months. which stroller did you decide on then? --We bought a Combi Twin Savvy which is a SBS stroller; I loved my duoglider but learned really quickly that I did not want another tandem stroller.

--did anyone have a a jogging stroller, an umbrella stroller (or even single strollers) in addition regular stroller? can you have too many?;) --We bought a Baby Trend double jogger used; they sell them at BRU and are relative inexpensive. We also bought two single strollers (also Baby Trend and inexpensive) and loved the flexibility of having two strollers when DH and I were out together.

--can you reco a good nursing pillow to use w/twins? -- Can't help you there, but I am sure you can check out the Breastfeeding Forum for some recommendations.

--did you use the same nursery pattern for both babies? -- We had boy/girl twins and went with red gingham for Hannah and blue gingham for Ben. We got inexpensive bedding from TJ Maxx and then accented with special items from Pottery Barn Kids to give it a classy look!

--has anyone heard of a hands-free breast pump? i thought that medela had one, but i can not seem to find it. -- Nope...can't see how that is entirely possible. Get a good double pump; I had the Medela Pump in Style Advanced. It was worth it, although I did not use it for long.

I can't speak from experience just yet, but I have read a lot of good things about the EZ2 Nurse pillow and I plan to try it. I have test driven a few strollers and I will be going with the combi twin savvy (SBS) because of its weight and ease of maneuvering. The front back ones were harder for me personally to steer. But lots of people swear by the Duoglider. As far as bedding, I had to chime in because I spent SO much time on this. We're having boy-girl twins and I found it is a real challenge to find coordinating but different bedding. I went with Banana Fish--I think it was called Blueberry Ice and Peach Sorbet. They are the same pattern but different colors. I LOVE their bedding :) I plan on renting the hospital grade pump to start off with BF just because BF seems so challenging to begin with and I want to make it as easy as possible. Once I have it down I'll probably buy a pump but I haven't looked into them yet.

Just FYI, you cannot use the snap n go with the safeseats, but you can use it with the snugrides.

btw, jenanne, i ADORE banana fish! they have the cutest patterns! i am going to a store tomorrow to see them in person and pick out which one i like. i think we will go w/the same pattern for each, at this point. we're not going to have a ton of stuff, so hopefully things won't look too busy!

Jeri Lynn, they do have such cute stuff, I agree! I wasn't able to find a store in all of San Diego County with many sets so I ordered swatches which was a big pain, but oh well, I obsessed and it paid off. My mom thought it would have been cute to do two sets of the Blueberry Ice but since I knew we were having a boy and a girl I wanted them to have their own colors. Matching will be really cute for your two boys!!!!

    hello, twin moms-to-be!

--i know that most of you have gone w/the snap-n-go w/the car seats at first, and then moved up when the babies were 6-7 months. which stroller did you decide on then?

We had the Graco Duoglider (bought it cheap off of my cousin). However, these days, I see the Snap n Go's ALL of the time. If I had it to do over, I would've gotten a snap n go. There is so much more storage and access to it and it's go to be more light weight. The Duoglider storage stinks when you have both car seats in it...it gets better once they are out of the car seats.

--did anyone have a a jogging stroller, an umbrella stroller (or even single strollers) in addition regular stroller? can you have too many?;)
I have a jogging stroller I got when the twins were about a year (for outside stuff...walks, events, etc). I got a Schwinn Safari. LOVE it! I do have 2 single umbrella strollers that we use a lot now (just the cheap ones from WalMart)

--can you reco a good nursing pillow to use w/twins?
I wasn't able to nurse, but I've heard SO many good things about the EZ 2 Nurse pillow...it's designed specifically for nursing multiples.

--did you use the same nursery pattern for both babies?
Yes, I had 2 girls, but I did the room unisex b/c we knew we wanted more kids. Come to find out, I'm having another girl...I should've went girly...lol. I painted 2 different colors and put up a mom/baby animal border. Most of the colors are pastel in nature. I didn't get all of the bedding sets, etc. I just bought some sheets, a dust ruffle and that's it.

--has anyone heard of a hands-free breast pump? i thought that medela had one, but i can not seem to find it.
Never heard of one...somone should invent it though :) LOVE the sports bra idea!

i'm sure i will have more q's at time goes on, but those are the main things i'd love to know right now.

    thanks sooo much!

    twinsmom2b, i didn't see a reply from you--just a post quote. am i missing something? thanks!

jenanne, i'm sorry there's no stores close by BUT you'll probably do much better w/just the fabric. we are stuck right now between "all you need is love" pattern (which isn't too boyish but it's so cute and colorful!) and "ashbury," which i adore, and it's the colors we're using for most of the baby-related stuff (sky blue and brown).... btw, i love san diego (i live in LA). i went to ucsd. also, our twins were conceived at a san diego clinic!

thanks again for the resopnses. we are looking into all the strollers, etc. also, we'll for sure get an electric pump. we have our first bf'g class in a few weeks.

thanks again! you woman are wonderful!

O.K..... It's been a minute since I tucked into expecting but I was feeling nostalgic since my boys are turning two...

As far as the stroller thing, we went with The double decker stroller with two Graco Snugrides. (Safe seats didn't exist then!) This was invaluable for us and getting out with our babies. The company was more than helpful and I couldn't recommend them anymore. We currently have a Jeep SBS umbrella stroller that stays in our smaller car. It rarely gets used since I bit the bullet and bought the Valco Twin Runabout. It was way pricey and I had to save and wait for taxes, but it was nore than worth it. I will never look back especially with the toddler seat that fits my older son. It has saved my sanity and sense of independence.

I used two boppys for nursing and my fabulously fluffy couch pillows. I loved using the thick feather pillows when I was in the bed for tandem nursing. Way comfy.

My two are both boys but they have a truly neutral color scheme. I have color coordinated everything including the blankets I made them so everything is blue and green. They have solid comforters with their names stitched into them. I am a huge personalization fan and that just went over the top when I found out it was twins.

There is a Hands Free nursing bra that I remember seeing a while ago, but for $40 I would do the sports bra thing mentioned earlier. I would just tuck my pump into my sports bra for the same effect.
This site has all of the information for use with the Medela pumps that make it hands free as well.

Best Wishes and its great that you are getting prepared. Before you know it, they will be two and sleeping in toddler beds. ;)

we thought about rp but they had to postpone our first consult and we went to san diego fertility center in the meantime. i fell in love w/the place! i would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone who's looking (though, rp's is great, too). i still keep in touch w/the half the clinic. they are all great:).

thanks again for all your responses! this place is soooo helpful!
