I'm new here, name is Charlotte you might have seen my introduction. I was just curious and wanting to do a little gtky if you wouldn't mind. :)

Your welcome to put your name, how old you are, where you are from, what you do for a living etc etc if you want but you don't have to, it just makes it easier when you don't know anyone here for me haha

How far along were you when you found out you were having twins? Were you surprised? Do you know the sexes yet?

I don't mean for this to be intrusive, you don't have to answer if you don't want to, I actually have a mommy board from when I was pregnant with my son, it's small but we are all great friends, but that's the only one I've been on for a long time, and I'm used to knowing everything about everyone lol. It might take me a while but I will get it!

My name is Charlotte, 25 yo, married to Ryan for 7 years and we live in SoCal (tech Camp Pendleton), he's a Marine and I'm a SAHM.

Found out last Monday it was twins, I'm 8 weeks right now.

My name is Tamara, I'll be 31 on Thursday. I found out it was twins at 6 weeks when I went in for bleeding, thought I was miscarrying as I had a loss at 10 weeks prior to getting pregnant with the twins. I wasnt surprised, I had a feeling as twins run in my family. I live in Ontario, close to Toronto, originally from Montreal, Quebec. Single mom to my 3 boys for almost a yr now.

My name is Rachel and I found out I was having twins around 8 weeks. Total shock to even be pregnant in the first place since I was on BC and we weren't planning on having any children for at least another year, and then double shocker when we found out it was twins. To my knowledge there has been only one set of twins in my family history and that was way back, but my husband's side is just full of them (not that that matters supposedly). I had my girls at 35 weeks and 6 days (5 lbs 12 oz and 5 lbs 9.5 oz), pathology report was inconclusive as to whether they are identical and fraternal, but I am pretty sure they are identical, especially since my entire family is still having trouble telling them apart. I teach 8th grade pre-algebra and live in southern Ky. Welcome again to Twinstuff!

    Hi Charlotte,

I also live in SoCal, I live in Murrieta, which isn't too far from you. We moved down here last year, my DH is in the Navy and we got stationed down here. I also found out at 8 weeks. There is no history of twins in my family, but my DH and I both had a feeling I was carrying two. I was so lucky to carry them to 37 weeks 5 days, without a day of bedrest. Dillon was 5 pounds 8 ounces and Ryan was 5 pounds 13 ounces. They are now 5 and so much fun!

Welcome to TS and good luck in your pregnancy!

Awesome! Thanks everyone, it's nice to get to know you!!!

Sara - haha we used to live in Murrieta, but my husband works at Camp Pendleton and the drive was just getting to be too much so we moved onto base, I really liked Murrieta though.

I'm Kristen. Found out I was pregnant with twins at 16 weeks! We had been living in Africa with extremely limited prenatal care available (ie. only a doppler to hear HB), so although I'd had bleeding on and off during my entire first trimester I wasn't able to have it check out through u/s until I returned to the states. They were able to tell at that same appointment that it was a boy and a girl. I was shocked, terrified, overjoyed, horrified, etc. Every emotion under the sun in under 5 minutes I swear! The photos of me when they told me are some amazing keepsakes. Fraternal twins run heavily on my Mother's side of my family, so it isn't a surprise in hindsight, but it was the very last thing that we were thinking when we got pregnant on the first try all on our own. It's been a crazy ride! Oh yes and I delivered by scheduled c-section at 38 weeks and 2 day and gave birth to 15.5 pounds of baby altogether.

We are now back in Northern Africa where I am a SAHM but lucky with some help with the kids and the house and cooking :) I'm lucky!

I am Lesley, I am 33yo and have a six year old daughter named Sophia and almost 3yo fraternal boy/girl twins names Ryder and Reese. I live in Kansas and have been married to my husband Seth for 11.5yrs.
I found out I was having twins at about six weeks-had high beta levels and my OB wanted to do an ultra sound.
I knew there was a chance since I was on my second round of clomid and produced 3 folicles.
I was still shocked!! and it took a while for me to warm up to the fact I was going to have two at once!
You are going to love this forum, all the women on here are so very helpful and supportive!

    :welcome: to Twinstuff Charlotte!!

I'm Amy, I have a 10 year old DD and almost 5 year old (in February :shok:) B/G twins.
I live in Maryland, about 45 min. from DC and Baltimore. :)
I am a SAHM and have been since my twins were born, before having the twins I was a teacher.
My oldest DD was born at 41 weeks and weighed 9 lbs 4 oz. so imagine my shock when I went into PTL with my twins and had them 3 months early. My DD weighed 1 lb 10 oz and my DS was 2 lbs 7 oz. Despite being 3 months early no have absolutely no lingering effects of being premature and are very healthy and exactly where they should be for their age. :)

Hi! Welcome to TS! I'm Erin, I'm 33 and live in Ottawa, Ontario. My son, Dannik is 3 and my girls Amélie and Audrée will be one on January 9th. My husband and will be married for 4 years in Feb, and it's been quite the action packed 4 years, lol!

I found out I was having twins at 8 weeks. I asked for an early u/s just to make sure there was actually a baby in there :). We do not have any family history of twins but since my girls are ID there's not supposed to be any genetic component involved. I ended up at the appointment alone (DH was stuck in a meeting)...when the tech asked me how I had been feeling with this pregnancy and I said "SICK!" she said "That's because there's 2". I LOST it...I had PPD after having Dannik and so I wasn't even sure I wanted another one, let alone 2!!!! It took months for the shock (and fear) to wear off. My husband was ecstatic because he had always wanted 3-4 kids and a mini van...I say he 'willed' this to happen! My girls were born at 38w3d, no NICU for them and no bed rest for me. As far as twin pregnancies go, mine was pretty uneventful.

The last year has been challenging but sooo much more manageable then it was the first time (thank God!). I keep saying that having 3 kids was something I never realized I wanted until they were here :). I am now a SAHM and enjoying it more and more everyday.

    GL with your pregnancy!

Congrats Charlotte!! My name is Lauren, 33 yo, I've been married to Jason for just over 2 years, we live about 30 minutes outside Vancouver, BC. I'm a mortgage underwriter but right now we are trying to figure out what I'll do for work when my mat leave is up in April. I found out at 11 weeks we were having twins. I have never been more shocked in my life, no hx at all. Co-workers still joke that I walked around the office looking stunned for the rest of the day. I was hospitalized at 28 weeks for PTL and had Ava (3 lbs 12 oz) and Sam (4 lbs) at 31 weeks. They were in the hospital for 5 weeks. Now at 9 months they are doing great!!

You are going to love this site :) Ive gotten alot of great advice from here and even better, you get to talk to people who are at the same stage as you or have just gone thru it.

    Hi,

I am Monica, I am 33. Our twins are Vanessa and Max and they are almost 4 months, they are our only children. We have been married for almost 7 years. We had to do IVF and we transfered 2 embryos, actually yesterday it was an year since the egg retrieval so I am a bit emotional, I can't believe what a year it has been. At the begining I was hoping it worked, then after we found out I was pregnant, I was hoping it was twins - and we found out it was at the 6 weeks ultrasound. It was so exciting, both my husband and I were there, and the dr. took a picture with both sacks on and asked us if we can count :), this is how we found out. Then, I was hoping it was going to be a boy and a girl - and it was!!! Of course, I would have been very happy with either combination. Infertility is such a life altering experience to go through, it changes your perspective. We are so thankful and lucky to have them.

My parents moved in with us for the time being to help us take care of the twins and I am back to work as an Office Manager in a small trucking company. I do accounting, payroll, dispatching and everything that needs to be done in the office, and it's a fun place to work, very relaxed and everybody is really supportive and understanding with the twins. However I miss them a lot during the day. This forum helps me a lot, not only that I am learning a lot from people going through similar experiences, but also I see other moms going to work and going through the same stuff as me, and that helps me accept the situation easier.

Welcome to Twinstuff and I hope you have an easy pregnancy!

My name is Jo. I am married to Christian for ten years this upcoming March! We live in Ft Worth, Tx. I teach 6th grade language arts...this is my 11th year teaching!
I am due with fraternal girl twins this spring. 40 weeks would be March 21, but my goal has been March 1 all along! Initially my docs said that because Im petite, it would be a challenge to carry twins. Their initial goal for me was mid Feb...I told them that was too early! Lol!
We found out at 10 weeks that there were two babies in there...total shock! We dont have twins in the family. Plus...I was on birth control and we had almost decided that we were good with our daughter, Eva. She is 4 1/2! Both my husband and I ran through the emotions! It was a crazy few weeks! At the time we found out, Eva was there, and she was the one that was excited! Lol!
    Welcome to TS!!!

    Hi!

I'm Michelle and I live in the Denver area with Ben. I am with my boys during the day and I do part time work at night for the state. I'm from Michigan originally.

I was 7 weeks (so I thought!) when I went into the ER for bleeding. Turns out it was 2 and I was 11 weeks. :faint: They were di/di, so we were told probably fraternal. At my followup ultrasound the OB said he "wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't at least 1 boy in there". We were hoping for girls so I kind of played it off. Then at 20 weeks we did a u/s and they are both boys. After the boys were born I did a DNA test and they are Identical.

Glad you've joined us here. :welcome:

Hey there! I'm Sara, I'm 29 years old and 22 weeks with fraternal girls. They have a Twin's Peak sign which indicates they are not identical. I was hoping for at least one boy, but apparently we were meant to be parents of girls. Oh, my husband's name is Alex, he's 36. He wanted 2 children unless the first two were girls and then he was open to a third to try for a boy... I wanted 3 children, guess who won? Our older daughter will be almost 3 when the twins are born.

Honestly though, we were completely and totally surprised to be having twins! They don't run in my family... my grandmother claims they do but if you have to go back 5 generations then it doesn't count.

I work in an accounting office as an administrative assistant (a title I gave myself since I was general admin but I assist my boss, lol). I am hoping to work until about 30 weeks to get through February and give the temp a few weeks to train with me after she finishes covering for my coworker who is on maternity leave. We'll see if I can, I'm tiny and already measure 8 weeks ahead!

Just on an aside Sara...I had a Twin Peak sign as well on my early u/s and my di/di girls are in fact identical (confirmed with DNA testing) so I guess yours still could be too :).

Hello~ I have almost 6 month old b/g twins who were born at 36 weeks, 4 lb 10 oz and 4 lb 5 oz. I had no problems, no morning sickness...nothing. Totally uneventful- I worked up until 32 weeks at UPS. I went in for my weekly appointment and the Dr said she wanted them out the next day due to low amniotic fluid and felt they would grow better on the outside. Personally, in hindsight, I kind of think she was going on vacation or something because that was the first issue I had had and previously had only heard how great they were doing. I think she just wanted to do a c-section and be done with it. They stayed in the hospital a total of 9 days until they could feed consistently, gained weight consistently, and could maintain body temp. I also think they were kept there about 2 days too long due to a nurse who refused to wake a sleeping baby (so if they were asleep at their feeding times she could just gavage feed without trying the bottle and they couldn't come home until they went 24 hrs without gavage). I guess I sound a little distrusting of the medical professionals, huh? haha

Anyway, I've been married for about 2 years but we've been together for 12. Never thought I'd have twins. My mom is an identical twin; the only fraternals are my mom's cousins. I found out I was pregnant almost immediately (like 3 weeks), had an appointment with an ultrasound and saw only one little bean in there. It wasn't until 17 weeks when I did the quadscreen (which I had turned down multiple times then just decided to do because they kept asking) and had high results on one of the things. I was sent to a peri (I almost didn't go- they said it could have been high results due to twins or being further along...I was sure I was just further along than I had thought because I was so big for 3 months pregnant! I thought no way would it be twins!) So I went and that's when we found out, and also found out that it was a boy and a girl. We spent the rest of the day looking at each other saying "two" (we still do that sometimes!).

Hi, my name is Kate. My identical twin boys, Michael and Gabriel, just turned a year old on Tuesday. We found out about them 3 weeks before they were born at 37 weeks. I'll let you figure out why that is (sorry, but I love to pull people's legs about this)

My DH is a teacher. I was a teacher for 7 years, but have been a SAHM the last year. I will be going back to grad school in January to become a counselor. We live in Virgina. I'm 31 and DH is 38.

    Welcome to Twinstuff!!

Hi! I'm Trisha, 32 today and married to Luke for almost 3 years. I have a son 6yo, with my first husband who died in a car accident just a few months after he was born. My second son 2yo, is a honeymoon baby with my husband now. I'm a stay at home, homeschool mom. I also homeschool my two sisters who are 13 and 14. We're not looking forward to going back to school this week! :)

I'm 15 weeks and we found out at a routine dating ultrasound at 9 weeks that we were pregnant with twins. Surprised would be a huge understatement to explain how shocked we were. My husband literally screamed in the ultrasound room. I laughed and told the ultrasound tech she had to be kidding. My 6 year old, just stood there with a grin and said, I told you we were having twins - that's what I prayed for. I had spent the prior couple of weeks explaining to my son that we weren't having twins because he was so insistent that we were.

We aren't scheduled for our anatomy ultrasound until February 3rd and it can't come soon enough! I can't wait to find out the sexes. It's been a very rough pregnancy for me and it will most likely be my last one, so I'm hoping for at least one little girl. I guess we'll see what happens!
