I am so thankful for this forum to bounce questions around that randomly enter my mind! I am a 18w3d and here lately I have been concerned about rocking/holding my 2yo dd (28 lbs) at her bedtime. Like I am putting too much pressure on my belly...It is not uncomfortable or anything, and I only do this long enough for prayers and a couple stories (like 5 minutes). It is part of her nightly ritual, and I really don't wanna change it or give it up. Will I have to eventually?? Is it ok for me to do now?? LIke I said, it's not uncomfy, but I am definitely aware of my uterus when I am cradling her like that LOL!!! Like a small bowling ball in my abdomen:)

I think this a question better asked of your OB. Only he/she truly knows all the particulars of your pregnancy. I can share that I nursed, held, carried, etc my DD through my entire twin pregnancy and had no trouble. As I grew, I just had to reinvent different ways of making it work. Sometimes it was less than comfortable, but I did what I had to do. My DD was younger/smaller though, so I don't know how much of a difference that made in the advice I was given.

I do plan on asking my OB at my appt next week. Just didn;t know if any one else had the same concern as me or experiences they would share with me.

I think as long as it doesnt cause you any discomfort your babies are safe and sound !!
I had a 3yo that I held, rocked, carried through the whole pregnancy-no problem!!

When i was pregnant my other son was 5 - i did bedtime stories w/ him on my lap every night until there wasnt any room left! :) I think that once you hit maybe 6 months or so you won't want to carry her anymore........good luck!

When it starts feeling uncomfortable (I'm sure it will) then I would try and start a new bedtime routine. I breastfed my 2nd baby while pregnant with my 3rd all the way until I was 8 months along. She just laid across the top of my belly, lol!

I had some spotting week 20 after holding my 1 year old nephew (well, he is a large baby, closer to 2 years in size) and my doc said no more picking him up. Very frustrating when he runs to me and wants to go up, but I am listening to the doc.

Thank you ladies for the input... I will just ask my OB, too and continue with our usual routine until it is not comfortable anymore. I hope she will cooperate when that time comes! She loves the snuggle time! And so do I!
