A change of plans!

My OB was all for a vaginal delivery at the beginning with one baby's head down. Then they moved and we've had breech/transverse for a couple of months now. He began talking c-section with a midline incision and setting the date for the 19th or 20th which would put me just over the 37 week mark. It took me some getting used to the idea of a section seeing I've had 9 natural births. I just couldn't even fathom a section. So after getting myself settled into the idea of it,yesterday he tells me he spoke with my peri and they decided to let me go to 39 weeks! Whoa! This has been one roller coaster of a pregnancy! First he didn't want me to go over 38 weeks, then he moves it up to 37 because he was concerned over GD (my sugars have been fine) and their size and now he's completely changed his mind. I was looking forward to having my babies in time for Christmas!

At my peri appt. on Tuesday, the girls were doing great and measuring in at 6lbs a piece at 35 weeks. I'm holding my own as well so he said let's give them time to turn on their own. I'm excited about that but not excited at the prospect of 3 more weeks to go. I feel so physically done in! I can't imagine how I'll feel with a couple more lbs added on to each baby. LOL

Could they be New Years babies now?

I'm glad to hear the pregnancy is going well and the doc is giving you the chance to have a vaginal delivery. Is he really going to let you go 40 weeks?

Wow, Nettie, I didn't realize you had 9 more! Have you visited our triplets and large families board? I don't exactly qualify, but I lurk every now and then -- totally different from my experience as an only child with only one child for so long.
Anyway, I'm glad your appt went well .. . .or did it? I'm not sure, but you don't sound upset!

He said we'd go for 39 weeks but he added that if one of the babies makes it head down around 38 weeks we'd induce quick and not give her time to move back. I was a little concerned about that because I thought there was more placental issues after 38 weeks with identicals. Guess we'll just have to see...I'm really hoping we don't last that long! ;)

Sara, I had myself a good cry yesterday! That helped! The thought of switching gears again and getting my hopes up for 37 weeks, smaller than my normal babies, having them in time for Christmas...and not even knowing if I can hold on till 37 and and and I could go on... However, I know this is a good decision for the babies and myself! I just had to get it all out yesterday and re-adjust my thinking. I know God is in control here...this is what I've prayed for all this while (a natural delivery) so I guess we'll just see what His plans are for me. :)

Oh, yeah, I've checked the large families board a couple of times. I just haven't had a lot of time to keep up with it all! There's been so much info in here it's been helpful.

you are in the same boat I was in this time last year ! CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I have had 3 vaginal births and 1 c-section and let me tell you! while the c-section was easy - walked into hospital at 6 babies at 8 - I would much rather have a vaginal birth - just because the recovery is much harder. Good luck! I hope baby A turns back to head down !!!!!
