I've gone to post this a few times and something has always come up- but now I have two peaceable girls and will eek away at my precious night sleep time to properly introduce them.

it's been one month, due date officially today (now that it's after midnight!).

Daphne Almeda & Andrea Danae were born on April 4, 2008 at 8:42am and 9:24am respectively. They weighed 4lb12oz and 4lb10oz, both 17.5" long. They did absolutely brilliantly (born at 35w4d, exact same gestation as big brother!), no NICU needed. Only minor trouble was maintaining their own body heat but by the time we went home (2 days later) they were fine. Both had a smidge of jaundice- but only Andrea needed the bili blanket and that was just for 24hrs. Like one of the nurses said, "they're not acting like preemies and we're not telling them they're preemies!"

I managed to deliver them both completely au natural! no pain meds, no IV's, and both vaginally even though Andrea was frank breech. In fact, Daphne's birth went so well- I was laboring in the delivery suite (waiting for my chance to be whisked away to deliver in the c/s room) and I started acting "ready" so my doula scurried to find someone to come check me and I'd progressed so much they were totally caught off guard, c/s room wasn't even available so I delivered Daphne in the same suite her brother had been born in 3 yrs prior. For Andrea they hurried and got me into the c/s room.

The aftermath has been a bear. I lost a LOT of blood. Probably should have either had a transfusion or been made to stay at the hospital a while longer- but they wanted me to build up my hemoglobin naturally. It's been a long, slow process. And unfortunately, I'm still having the occassional large clot & bleeds (about 1x week or more) and the idea is- if it's still happening in the next 2 weeks I'll be set up for a d&c.

I am terrified of what life will be like after this week when the last of the family has gone- I'll be flying solo and trying to manage twins & a toddler-- I know many have gone that path before but it's super spooky to me.

Well, I musn't waste anymore sleep-- I'll leave you with a link to some pics of the girls-- they've grown so much already! (weighed 6.5lbs the other day!!).

Thank you for all the support during my pregnancy-- lifesavers you are!!

    our first few weeks
