A Big Thanks!

Wow, has this year gone by so fast!!! My girls had their first birthday. They are now fast asleep after a busy day today, and another tomorrow. We didn't have their actual party today b/c of DH's family reunion. They did have some gifts, sang to them, and let them dig into their first cake! It was a very nice day beside some rain, and DH's uncle getting very ill. They did have to call the paramedics and take him in, but he is fine....I think he just got too dehydrated (he is 81). Luckily, my BIL is a doctor and two of DH's cousins are on the city's fire department. Tomorrow we are having a party at our house, so more gifts, cake, and food!

This year has changed me. I never imagined having them after our struggle with IF. They make me so happy, and they are such wonderful babies. Their big sister loves playing with them too. The day they came was such a crazy day. I was so afraid of DH not making it to their birth due the emergency c/s. Then those first 3 months were so rough. Claire had colic, and Carlie had acid reflux. I don't know how we made it through but we did. And then, things got better and I have loved every moment with them.

I have also learned how grateful I am to have them. In this past year, I knew of an infant who passed that was the same age as them in his sleep. It wasn't SIDs though, but at the time we all thought it was. It hit our community and schools hard. It hit me hard. I cried a lot from Baby B's passing. Then, an old friend of my sister lost her 2yr old son to cancer. Then all of Baby R's situations. I just feel grateful that my girls are healthy and happy!!

I want to thank everyone for helping me through those first few months. Things did get better!! It was hard to believe at the time, but it is true. I enjoyed my time here in the FY. I will check in though!!

Happy birthday! Ok, your posting made me cry - I think that was a good reminder to be happy for healthy babies, even when we are sleep-deprived and exhausted from singing the same song for the 75th time, we still need to be thankful as things could be FAR worse : )

April, I've followed your journey for a LONG time ... It's amazing how quickly it goes when you look back right??

Happy Birthday to your beautiful big girls! So much of what you say about the FY is how I feel. It was rough in the beginning about struggling with IF, but once we got through that it has been amazing and rewarding in so many way! I hope they have a fantastic party today and feel like the most special and loved babies in the world as they turn one! See you on the 1-4 board soon!
