Ok, I just don't think this is normal, but DH and our nanny says it is absolutely fine. DH let Mikayla nap yesterday for 5 hours! 5 hours!! Isn't that too much for an almost 18 month old? They sleep 10 hours or 11 hours at night. What do you think? Am I being paranoid?

Wow! Is she sick or anything? I have started waking Bea up at the 2.5 hr mark. I noticed if she goes 3 hrs, then she stays up talking and playing at bedtime. I wonder if she was actually sleeping the whole time?

No, she's not sick or anything. I just don't think he wanted to deal with her. She was sleeping the whole time, and he just let her sleep. Maybe he had enough to deal with Michael. (I was out grocery shopping etc.)

If she still sleeps okay at night, I don't see anything wrong with it. Sometimes they are hitting a growth spurt or are just worn out for no reason. Like the pp said, I don't let my guys nap past 2.5 hours or they take forever to go to sleep at night.

If she was really sleeping, and like the PP said, went to bed fine, then she probably did just need to sleep. Mine would do something like that once in a while when they were just really worn out.

Ditto if she slept she needed it! And if she goes to sleep at night fine too. be happy! Dh had an easier time. Dd used to nap 3-4 hours from 18 months to 3.5!!! And go to bed at 730-8Pm with ease! If ONLY i could get BOTH boys to nap atleast an hour still.....

Mine have never napped longer than 2 hours unless they were sick so I'm sitting here with my mouth open. I don't think she would have slept unless she was very tired so I think it's fine. Now, if he had left her in her crib for 3 hours of awake quiet time and then she slept for two hours, that would be a problem. Of course, I don't ever wake mine from naps to preserve bedtime because they generally will go to sleep at bedtime even if they've only been up for a couple of hours.

What?? OMG, I can't believe she slept that long. Did she go to bed without a problem? If so, I would think it's ok. Mine are 16 months and rarely sleep more than 1.5 hours per day.. Usually just 1 hour. If she continues the trend of sleeping over 4 hours for a nap, I'd check with a doctor, but if the ped says it's fine, then go with it!!

Could have been a growth spurt. I rarely ever wake mine up. I notice they take fairly long naps when they are going through a little growth spurt. They've never napped that long though. I wouldn't be paranoid. There's nothing to be paranoid about.

My boys have been good nappers lately also (knock on wood) Not 5 hrs. straight but 2hrs. in the morning and 2hrs. in the mid afternoon and they are 45min. - 1 hour nappers, always have been. I thought they would be transitioning to one nap soon but apparently they like two naps still.

I would probably wake them after going on 4 hrs. just because it would be so out of character and I probably would have checked on them a millon times. My Dh would have done the same thing..LOL! I wouldn't worry maybe it was just a tired day. Men are much different then us women...LOL! I was yelling at DH the other day for giving them balloons to play with, so it must be all DH's!
