Im finally getting around to posting this. My next us is next Wed. I will be almost 12w then. But Im growing more and more scared every day. I stare at these us pics every hour. My Dr. seemed concerned that the babies looked too close. I am having triplets. I posted 2 pics. One is just the two in the same sac and the bottom one is the best the Dr could get of all 3 babies. Im so scared that there is something wrong with the 2. Could they be conjoined? Is that maybe why hes worried? Or maybe just becuase there may not be a membrane separating them? Can any of you look at the pics and give me your opinions? Anyone ever been told that their babies looked too close? Could they maybe just be snuggling? Thanks for ANY input...

Hello, you poor thing - I know how terribly frightening this must be for you.
In my humble opinion, Doctors have to take every possible scenario into consideration, and as your Dr mentioned some concern over the proximity of the two babies in the one sack, I'm guessing that it's WAY too early to tell whether they are conjoined or not and they would have to just keep monitoring them until they can rule it out. From what we can all see there doesn't seem to be a membrane separating them, so they must be identical......and for all we know they might just be snuggling!!! My twins are fraternal and I have never seen 2 bubs in the same sack before - maybe one of the mono Mom's could shed some more light on it for you.
Please try to relax, sorry I couldn't be more help.
    Best wishes with everything.

I'm so sorry you are going though this stress. I will try and post the pics for you when I get off work today, but I have a pic of my boys at about 9 weeks, and I swear you can't even tell it's two babies they are so clost together. We knew that they were not conjoined since I had a an u/s at 7 weeks, and at that point they were accross the sac from one another. While anything is possible, I don't think they are conjoined. Also, (though I am SO SO not an u/s expert) -- I think you might see a hint of an amniotic membrane seperating the babies in the second pic. (which would totally rule out conjoined, and you'd just have ID di/mo twins) Again, it looks JUST like my 9 week u/s -- the doc said "Humm...that COULD be a membrane. -- However at my next U/s at 12 weeks, it didn't look like anything was there (they did abdominal u/s first) until they did the tans vaginal again. So if at your appointment, they do an abdominal and don't see a membrane, insist that they do a trans - vaginal -- it was clear as day when they did it for me.

I'm so sorry you have to go though this worry -- I know it's nerveracking -- and all you can think about -- but i think (in my VERY unprofessional opinon) that you have a great chance at "only" di/mo twins. (which is NOTHING to worry about)!

I know it is impossible not to worry, so I will just offer my words of encouragement and say that I doubt the doctor is worried about conjoined twins, but is more likely worried about mono/mono twins, where they don't have a seperating membrane. That is concerning enough in itself, but with close monitoring they would probably be fine. Like the PP said - they probably even do have a membrane - it's probably just really hard to see and hopefully they will have more luck at your U/S next week. I don't think some doctors realize that their casual comments cause us mothers extreme worry. His concern about them being close together might be a 2 on a scale of 1 to 5, but when you hear it of course you are going to think it's a 5. So just try and tell yourself that everything is fine - remind yourself how rare conjoined twins are and that even mono/mono twins only make up a small percentage of identical twins. Please keep us posted - we'll be waiting to hear news next week of how your two seperate little beans are growing. :)

I thought that in the first picture it looked like there was a pretty good amount of separation between them. And you have to consider that even in the worst case scenario that they would be conjoined, it could be a very minor conjoinment.... I think I look to the odds for comfort too.. if you consider the odds of conceiving triplets and then you throw into the mix that the id. twins would be conjoined...those are extremely low odds. Your odds for non-conjoined twins as a part of your triplets are much higher. So try to hold out on that hope. I would try to distract yourself as much as possible for the next few weeks until you can get a definite answer. Worrying won't change anything. Focus on happier aspects of having triplets...

I thought there looked to be good amount of separation too. But the more I look, things seem to change. lol. The Dr did say that conjoinment in a triplet set would be VERY rare but so is triplets.
Everyones comments have made me feel better. Only 8 more days till the US. This one was done tvaginally so Im assuming the next one will be too. Im alos hoping that my OB will finally refer me to a peri as he hasnt dont that yet either. But Im guessing its because Im still in my first trimester....

My babies are in the same sac but have a membrane separating them- it's very difficult to see this membrane- in fact, my ob sent me to a peri to have a level 2 to determine if there was a membrane because their office machine couldn't pick it up... I would insist on seeing a peri just to confirm a membrane or not... Good luck!

Hi again -- here is the pic that I was talking about. (sorry it's so bad -- i don't have a scaner, so i had to take a picture of it) == Baby A is at the top, and baby b is at the bottom. See that line just above where it says "fetus b" ?? That's what the doc "thought" might be a membrane - but wasn't sure -- but it turned out to be just that - the amniotic speration.

    U/S Pic

Good luck with your next U/s !!

Oh man, you have TOTALLY made my DAY! Yous US looks JUST like mine! I do see that that could be a membrane in mine. I feel like a ton better! THis will surely make the next 8 days pass much easier. Thanks so much! I do know that those office us are hard to see on plus, the OB does not have the experience reading us like the us tech and Dr's do. The first pic you cant really see anything but when it is sideways you do...Thank you so so so so MUCH! :hug99:

In the second photo I swear I see a membrane between the set that looks to be in the same sac. That line really looks like a membrane!
