my little preemies are finally catching up! we found out today that jacob is at 2% on the non-adjusted growth chart for weight, and owen is at 4%. it's a good feeling knowing they're catching up because a woman at the park the other day guessed their age as 6 months old. <_< they've gotten onto the non-adjusted chart for length, too, so i'm excited about that as well. both boys weighed the same, 17 lbs 5 oz. jacob is 26.75" long and owen is 27" long.

we didn't have our usual pedi because he's on vacation and i wasn't a huge fan of the doctor we saw instead. she reassured me that although their heads have always been large, the growth is starting to normalize so we shouldn't be concerned (they're at 70% for head circumference  ). the thing is, we were never concerned. our regular pedi never voiced concerns and so for her to make a point of it suddenly i felt like WAIT, SHOULD I HAVE BEEN WORRYING?!?! :umm:

she said they're doing great on their milestones and doing most normal things for their actual age, and the few things we're adjusting for (like gagging on textured solids) should start to normalize here soon. she did say we should talk to PT about the gagging when we go for our next torticollis checkup, but she added that if we didn't already have an "in" at PT she wouldn't refer us yet. she said she wouldn't start feeling concerned unless they were still doing this at 12 months.

one thing i will say about having 10-month-olds who are still small is that i'm still able to scoop both up at once when they get shots and both need to be comforted at the same time. DH wasn't able to come along so mama had to kiss all the booboos herself again. :(

Congratulations, that's excellent news!!! For being as early as they were, they sound like they're catching up QUITE nicely :)

And, really, is it so bad to be the one to kiss all the booboos? :)

Yay for being on the growth chart!!! I'm jealous! :p Maybe my guys will get there someday...I had someone guess their age at 6 months a couple of weeks ago as well.

I'm glad she gave you some reassurance on the gagging issue.

Sounds like a great visit; I love successful well-baby checkups! :D

That is GREAT NEWS! My boys made it onto the non adjusted chart at 6 months, but have stayed in the "less than 3%" since then for weight but now are up to 70% for height! It's amazing how two little boys can go from 3lbs to 23lbs so quickly! In a few years no one will even be able to tell how early they were!

the one thing that annoyed me was that she kept saying they were 2 1/2 months early. they were 6 1/2 weeks early! that's ONE and a half months! GET IT RIGHT!!!

they just got a hep b shot this time. next mmr is at the 12 month appointment. we're on the standard vaccination schedule.

also, the pedi did mention as an aside that she just read a study that showed a correlation between big-headed babies and higher IQ. i have no idea if she was telling the truth or just trying to make me feel better!

i'm glad she reassured you about the gagging, i'm guessing that they are going to grow out of it pretty soon.
