My girls turned 9 mos. old on April 1st. For the past 2-3 weeks they have been extremely clingy and attached. They whine or cry as soon as I leave the room, or even if I am just not paying attention to them.... Like if I take a call or are preparing a meal and they are like 5 feet away from me. They weren't like this before... so I am wondering ... is this just a phase?

I also want to add...that I can leave them with other people and they don't cry when I leave or anything... but if I am in the house, they want me and want my attention. But I can still leave them with my parents and they are totally fine. No crying.

I wish I had a solution, I am going through the exact thing. I cannot get anything done for them screaming and ffreaking out!

I think the separation anxiety is strongest at that age. I couldn't do anything either.

I put them in highchairs with puffs and rolled them in the kithen to do dishes.

I use the walkers when I do general stuff so they can follow me to the bathroom or laundry room.

To do laundry I throw it on the floor, which I read in a kids mag and let them play on it while I sort.

I agree it's their age. The boys will make strange if we're in a big group now. I'm lucky to have kids here all the time so other kids entertain mine when I make lunch or do a few dishes. Don't feel bad if you have to stick a baby Einstein video on for 20... or 23 minutes ;)

Our daughter is going through this and it is difficult. I end up wearing her in the Ergo when she gets too clingy. I'm sure that it is just a phase, but it is a hard one and one in which not a lot can get accomplished around the house.

I just posted the same thing last week. My doctor said its the age and its separation anxiety. It started with one and now its the both of them. She said it can last a few weeks. Good luck, I know I'm going crazy!

my girls will be 9 months on Sunday and one of mine is very clingy, the other not so much. I think it is just age, from what I have read in my books.

It's definitely their age. Hopefully it will be a short-lived phase, but expect it to come & go over the next year or two!

Definitely the age. I remember one of my friends took her daughter to visit family around a year of age, and the little girl would not let anyone hold her the whole week, including her grandparents! My friend was mortified. Her daughter is totally normal now, so have no fear :)
