    Hi, ladies (and gents),

One of the boys is babbling up a storm; but his brother is still not really making consonant sounds. He squeals and makes other vowel sounds; but the consonants are rare. I know we aren't supposed to compare; but it's soooo hard when you have them both right there ;).

My question is...when should I start worrying about him not babbling? (Funny since I"m obviously already worried about it or I wouldn't be posting a question.)

TIA for the help, and I hope all you TS mommies are doing great. I haven't been on in a while!

My boys were seeing early intervention as a precaution for preemies and qualified for speech around 8 months b/c they weren't making babbling sounds. Nothing was done (I guess we got lost in the shuffle) and when our next assessment came up the boys were right on track for babbling, but weren't following verbal instructions so we qualified again. We are seen once a month (once so far) and I'm really not too concerned. They seem to talk to each other and I think they have the twin language thing going. If your babies were preemies, I'd say hang in there and try not to worry too much!

We had the same situation. I brought it up to the Ped at their 9 month WBV and she wasnt concerned at all. He started just before a year.

I think its a little too early to be concerned. Talk to your pedi at their next wbv and ask him/her. GL.

I'd say to talk to your ped at your 9 month check up. My boys didn't really babble much prior to a year old, didn't really say too many words before 15 months and are now starting to say more words and a few (very few) two word combos and they are right on track for where they should be. Plus, remember, they are two different babies, and even though it's hard, don't compare the two!

Mine haven't much yet. I read up to 9 months it's normal but after 9 months you might want to talk to someone just to check things out.

Oh and does anyone know if saying mum mum mum when crying counts as babbling ??
