I feel like all my 2 do is eat, sleep, and fuss and cry because they are tired. It seems as though there is barely any time were they are just content and looking around. Right now, for example, they got up at 8:30, ate, and has been ehiming ever since to go back to sleep. I've tried the playmat, got them dressed, we played around and took photos and they whined throughout. Right now, they are sitting beside me in their bouncy seats crying.

Help! It's to the point I don't want them awake because I don't know how to make them happy!!!!!

Put them back to sleep! ;) If that's what they're cueing, that's what'll make them happy. They'll start to have more & more quiet alert time as they get older but newborns really can't be up for much more than an hour or two at a time. And with twins, you can quite easily fill an hour of awake time with just feeding & changing.

I agree with the pp. Give yourself a break and let them go to sleep. You will have them being more alert soon enjoy this time when they need sleep and take a nap when they do. Moms need the same amount of sleep that the babies do since we get up with them all the time.

Agree, really try to keep their awake time to an hour or 1.5max (this includes feeding, nappy change etc), so that they don't get to the whingey state. At this stage, all they want to do, is eat, poop and sleep, won't be long before they can stay awake for longer and have some mommy play time :) - Being fussy is their way of telling you that they want to sleep.

I felt the same way until mine got to 12 weeks. After that it seemed suddenly easier somehow. Also I got better at getting their tired cues and getting them down before they started crying. And watching the clock, these guys are like they have some sort of time distortion force field, I'll think they've been up for about 45 minutes when it's actually been about 2 hours! Good luck, hope it gets easier soon, but I totally agree, a sleeping baby is a happy baby!!!

That's totally what happens! And it works in reverse when they're sleeping - they'll nap for 2 hours (or so I've heard) but it only feels like 45 minutes! :gah:

Thanks everyone. I need to remember to follow their lead more often. :)

And they have us some good awake time last night and this morning.
